Such a thing made Haruka's expression sadden for just a moment.
Oh, it wasn't that anything bad was going on, as she liked having her husband's arm around her. To tell the truth, he was the only guy that she could really see herself being with, and having his arm around her made her feel comforted and loved. She really wasn't a showy type of woman, which meant that the simple actions usually were the most appreciated.
However, she couldn't help but feel a little... disloyal when she thought of the girl who was one of, if not the, closest female to her, Michiru Kaioh. As much as Kasumi gently took care of her, Nabiki made life interesting, and Akane gave her energy, the fact of the matter was that the violinist didn't need to try to be there for her. She just was at her side, and understood her without having to be asked about anything. All it took was a quiet look, a simple nod, and a touch, and they could communicate in ways that other women could never manage.
And that made Haruka worry more than a little bit. She did like Michiru, and knew that the green haired girl was in no way a bad person. If anything, she was wonderful, with an elegance that perfectly suited her slender figure. The thing was that she could connect with the racer in ways that... distracted her from her husband. They even went to the same school, spending plenty of time in each other's presence, never having to push to be ready to act on whatever they needed. Given the chance, they could fall into their own little world, simply being together, like on rides on her bike, or sitting at the edge of a pool.
Knowing that had happened set a pain in Haruka's heart as she knew that she had shared so much joy with Ranma. He made her feel totally like a woman, but not in the objectified way that most guys would have treated her. For him, she was beautiful running track, sexy on her bike, and never not feminine when she competitive. She never had to pretend to be someone else around him, as he was always excited over what she did. Her husband not only supported her thoroughly, but gave her a joy in life which made her want to get involved with the world around her.
Such a thing made it harder for her to accept the fact that she did feel torn. Neither one had asked her for her to leave all other connections just for them, but sometimes she just felt more drawn to one instead of the other. Perhaps it was only natural, but she couldn't ignore the fact that she felt anticipation for the both of them. So, when she was supposed to be binding her life with her husband, and had her pulse beat a little faster when she was going to see Michiru, she always had a twinge of self dislike at her feelings.
Being unable to find an answer to the problem just made it feel worse, though she was happy that she had found a balance that gave her the chance to be happy and at as much peace as possible.
"What's the matter?" Ranma asked as he glanced over at his wife, tightening his grip on her.
Haruka shook off her melancholy thoughts and blinked. "Why do you think something's wrong?"
"You looked almost like you were pain there."
"Ah, right. It's just... an odd thought is all. I got lost in it for a moment."
"Gotcha," he murmured. "Can I do anything to help?"
"No, not really. There's nothing that could be done, if it had to be, anyway."
"If you say so. But if something comes up, just let me know, okay?"
"You'll be the first one," she answered, and then cupping his cheek right before leaning in to press her lips against his. Doing so felt wonderful, and she let that edge the doubts away. Of course, there had never been any doubts that she was meant to be this boy's wife, or that she was going to spend a lifetime with him. Feeling that kiss just soothed her so wonderfully, and so she let herself focus back on the fun at hand, while:
