Chained World - Rei: Differences of the Art [Episode 217851]

by Kestral

This was a darker world, and one where the concept of 'human rights' hadn't developed to the extent it might otherwise have. The cost of a life could be measured, and was measured, on a daily basis.

Ranma had developed his skills to where he regularly won tournaments. These were not simple karate tournaments with points being awarded. Bloodsports were a lot more common and the styles of fighting were frequently thrown against each other. Ranma had won Rei in just such a tournament.

There were also criminal elements involved, and they were likewise rougher and more prone to excesses of behavior.

Ranma's skills had been the knife that this whetstone had sharpened to a level of potential a more civilized world never would have.

Just as Genma had developed his "Wrecking Ball" technique, so too had Ranma developed techniques that went beyond such limits.

He'd had to fight warriors trained and enhanced by the Shimoda Kansai Yakuza. Brutes who'd trained in armored skin and iron fist techniques. Modified with implants so that they felt no pain, had no fears.

As the girl with the purple hair came in for another attack, Ranma regretted that he had to cut this fight short. She didn't seem bad to him, not radiating the cruelty or insanity of the fighters he'd fought down there.

You could armor the skin, toughen the warrior, but there remained ways of attacking such.

"Toh!" called out Ranma, a palmstrike twisting in around her block and striking once gently on her forehead.

Shampoo, not having known previously about this particular strike, hadn't seen what the attack was capable of and had noticed the lack of force going in. That had caused her to conclude it was a feint and not a real attack.

Shampoo folded as if a marionette's strings had just been cut.

"Too bad, this could have been more fun," said Ranma as he caught three kunai and returned them to the thrower. "Too many fighters all at once, no set sides. Where's the fun in that?"

"I'll get youGHHH!"

Ranma withdrew his fist from the guy who'd thought he had surprise. "That's the kinda thing I'm talking about. No class. No talent. Where did these guys come from, Thugs R Us?"

"That's the last time I shop at 'Thugs R Us'," groaned Tira as she got up. "Though what was with that fat guy? He hit me like a ten ton hammer."

"He WAS pretty tough," grumbled Ivy. "Genma Saotome. I've heard of him. He took out Yoshimitsu down in Kansai during that big fight last year."

"What? Why didn't you say something?" asked Tira.

"We might be allies," said Ivy, "but I wouldn't say we're exactly chummie."

"Genma Saotome, eh? I'll avenge today's humiliation," said Tira.

"After your legs are healed enough to walk?" asked Ivy.

"Yeah, that would help," admitted Tira.
