Chained World - Rei: Combat Greeting [Episode 217805]

by Kender

The problem that Ranma had with fighting minions was that they weren't the strongest combatants around. In fact, that was a lot to do with why they were in the positions that they were in, as those with the least ability tended to be on the bottom rungs in anything. There were always a few who were able to rise above the others, but the rest tended to be cannon fodder that were used to crush most of the petty stuff that the big guys didn't need to be hassled with. On top of that, even though there was always the possibility that such a group might be made up of a number of good fighters, most of the time, they weren't taught much about tactics. So, as they would go to fight in bunches, they'd get in each others' way.

As such, he'd been forced to take on guys who had to work out some sort of way that they could combine their attacks as they did them, or just attack him one on one. He didn't have the same sort of hassle, and could smash every troublemaker in his way. All that he had to do was to dart from stooge to stooge, striking a knockout blow on each in turn.

Now he had someone who had some skill behind her as his opponent. She was certainly appealing enough, what with her shapely body and pretty face, but he wasn't distracted by that. Too many warriors had impressive abilities that didn't always fit with their looks, and he knew that guys could get seriously hurt by getting distracted by good looks.

This girl was certainly proving that to be true, as he was getting to see that she wasn't just some normal stooge. Right when he'd block one of her overhand strikes, she was already moving to send a quick kick at one of his legs. Avoiding the attack and positioning himself to elbow her didn't help as she was able to twist out of the way. Doing so cleared her back for an attack, and he took advantage of that by slapping an open handed blow against her shoulder.

Stumbling in response, she impressed him by staying standing, even as she cursed in what sounded like Chinese, and then whipped her weapons around to crush his skull. Her move was so quick that he had to bend back almost in half to avoid it, and he was barely able to react as she went to knock his feet out from under him. A flip looked impressive, but the one that he did was more out of instinct and desperation than anything else.

With an awareness of just the sort of damage that someone with that sort of strength could cause clear in his mind, the pigtailed boy slid back so that he could use a nearby bin as a projectile when he snapped out a kick to send the metal container shooting at her. But with one swing of her slender arm, she swatted it out of the air, using one of her oversized maces to send the dented container crashing off to the side. He hadn't expected it to do much though, and as she marched over to him, he jumped right at her, his foot already flexing to send a spin kick at her head.

As her bend out of the way made that difficult, he shifted in midair and sent a punch right at her head, which she blocked with one of her bonbori.

When he landed, his hand was stinging and her weapon was broken down to the wooden shaft of the handle, with both of them breathing hard in response.

However, the two of them were also smiling at each other, while:
