On the other hand, it did seem to be a good plan to get into contact with her friend. Trying to talk to the pigtailed boy wouldn't work, but not because he wouldn't listen. Rather, it had to do with the fact that him being on the road would make it so that he wouldn't even be anywhere around a phone. However, he wasn't the one that she wanted to call upon.
Hopefully she wouldn't have to take too long to get into contact with his wife. All that she would have to do to talk to the other girl would be to call upon her, but she just had to manage to get the initial contact made. This wouldn't be a problem if she could find what Nanoha had given her, so long as she hadn't put it away.
Hopefully, she would be able to get away to go look for it soon.
Nanoha Saotome crossed her long legs under the chair that she was sitting on, and took a sip of her tea as she flipped through the binder on the table before her. Her eyes brushed over the pages in front of her, but she didn't really pay much mind to the words themselves. Not that she was about to shirk her work, as she was totally dedicated to her calling as a tactical instructor, and already knew much about what she was looking at. However, she was more interested at the moment in enjoying the sense of the cafeteria around her.
This was the sort of place where she belonged, and knew that this was where she could make a difference. In the brightly lit room, with its shining white walls, broad windows, and multiple planters, there was the sense of life and happiness there, and she had to smile as she saw the people moving around her, from comrades sharing a meal, friends laughing with each other, and companions sharing an intimate moment. She knew that there was a lot of combat groups that stressed emotionless behavior, but this one made the joy of people a priority.
Of course, it could have been better for her, but she wasn't about to make it so. To do that, she would have been forced to make her husband give up on his training journey, and she knew that taking away someone's dream was cruel and nasty. This was his life's calling, for all that it was his father's idea, and he wanted to finish it. Her father in law wasn't her favorite person, but she didn't have enough of a problem with him to buck his plans.
Then again, it did take Ranma away from her, and she wasn't fond of that at all. Not a day would go by without her missing him. Back when she'd returned to Earth when her mother had been sick, she hadn't thought that she would meet the sort of guy who would be the love of her life, but when she came across Ranma Saotome, things had changed for her. And through him, she had met others, like when they'd met the three Tendo sisters.
He really was the guy for her, as he was confident, open, and proactive. Staying back wasn't the sort of thing that he liked, and she knew that if he was going to do something he was interested in, he wasn't about to slack off with it. In fact, that was actually one of their sticking points, as she knew what kind of harm that incessant training could do. Having him be hurt through the sort of accident during some sort of strenuous exercise, especially the intense sort that he went through, left her afraid in a way that didn't come often for her. When she brought it up with him, she'd made a point of mentioning what her own experience with that sort of thing had caused. What she'd hoped was that he would realize how dangerous his constant training could be, and would get some sort of evening out on it.
Instead, she'd gotten a surprising response that changed the way that she looked at her significant other.
"It isn't that I'm trying to train all that hard," he'd told her with a shrug. "It's just the way that I live."
Once she heard that, the first domino fell, knocking her into realize that his tendency of running about on tight spaces, and turning meals into speed contests was more about his way of life than a mission to get stronger. Oh, he definitely wanted to get more powerful, but he wasn't about to throw himself into some sort of stupid training to do that. He had his father for that sort of insanity, and he'd long ago learned to not rush into such a thing.
Well, at least, he wouldn't do it if he didn't see some sort of recognizable benefit at the end.
Smiling to herself, she admitted that she was even fond of the annoyance that his antics brought up, and missed them. If she could, she'd have had him join her already, but even if he was theoretically a possible benefit to the TSAB, she wasn't going to drag him to Mid Childa. There was plenty of time for him to visit other worlds later, and right now, he had something to finish.
"Captain Saotome?" called out a voice to her side. "There is a call for you from an Akane Tendo."
Looking over to the source of the sound, she nodded at the holographic picture. A part of missed Shari and the other girls from Long Arch, but she wasn't about to dismiss the serious faced young operator that she was seeing now.
"Put it through," she replied, certain that she would enjoy the coming conversation, while:
