"Do you know how to use any?" asked Benoit of Melfina.
"No," responded Melfina. "At least, I don't think so."
"So what magical qualities are in this outfit?" asked Ranma.
"Oh, it has pockets sewn into the inside of the mantle," said Benoit. "She can store quite a lot in there."
"Hey, what's the magic do?" asked Ranma.
"Magic?" asked Melfina.
"He's a magic tailor," said Ranma. "He makes outfits that change the people who wear them."
"Hey, it's a business," said Benoit, shrugging and giving a 'whatever' gesture. "One has to make a living, darling. It's not like I'm one of those retail outlets that sell things off the rack."
"So this is magic?" asked Melfina, tugging at her clothing.
"Oh heavens no," said Benoit. "At least in the usual manner. Now if he'd bought you the maid outfit... that would be a different story. I sell simply SCORES of that outfit. Can barely keep it in stock. That and a number of the traditionally feminine clothes. They are nice though, aren't they?"
"Yeah, I'm sure," said Ranma, interrupting things before Melfina could get any weird ideas. Weirder ideas. "This outfit though?"
"Self-repairing," said Benoit. "If you slash or tear it - it'll repair itself by the end of the day. If it were shredded, it might take a bit longer. Fortunately that isn't likely to happen though. Even if you forced her to the bed and had your wicked wicked way with her... oh my."
"Don't even go there," said Ranma.
"Spoilsport," said Benoit in a disappointed tone.
"So it IS magic, it's just not the transform-the-wearer stuff?" asked Ranma.
"Oh yes, minor stuff, almost a standard-issue sort of thing," said Benoit. "Hardly even worth mentioning. I don't bother keeping track of the piffling minor stuff anymore. Have I shown you those 'Robes of The Fire Rat' I got in? I think they'd work for you."
"No thanks," said Ranma quickly as he paid for Melfina's outfit.
As they exited the store, Melfina noted that they were still apparently in Cairo. "So where to now, Master?"
Ranma pulled a map out of one pocket and checked it. Melfina tried to get a good look at it, especially after she thought she saw the ink moving.
Ranma glanced at the map and looked around for landmarks before deciding:
