The voice was quite piecing, despite the small cough at the end. Ranma and Akane both stared at the direction the voice was coming from, google-eyed.
As did Nabiki, on her bed in her room.
Did somebody just come and challenge...Kasumi to a duel?
And in the kitchen, a young woman paused, cutting knife in hand.
Hmmmm?
The young man stepped back in alarm as Ranma, Akane and Nabiki all piled out of the Tendo house and Dojo. Nodoka followed after them, somewhat more sedately.
"...Ahh...This...This is Tendo Kasumi's residence, correct?"
Ranma and Akane looked at each other, and then at Nabiki. Nabiki blinked - hey, hey, it wasn't like she knew anything, not this time anyway -
Nodoka cleared her throat, then. "Ahhh, Mister...?..."
"Y-Y-Yes, Ma'am?"
"You came to challenge...Kasumi-san?"
"...Y-Yes, Ma'am... Um... You aren't her, I suppose...?..."
"...No, I'm not, but..."
The young man was looking more and more flustered.
"Well, then, um, I'm sorry, but...Oh. Maybe she isn't home now?"
" - Oh, no, don't worry about it, I'm right here, Mr - ?"
The would-be challenger nearly jumped into the air as a sweetly smiling Kasumi appeared right behind him, a little to the side. Ranma and Akane googled yet again, while Nabiki just sighed. How did she keep doing that, anyhow?
" - Oh. Um. T-Tendo Kasumi...san?"
"Yes, that's me!"
"Um, well, OK. Sorry for the noisiness - Um. Well, Tendo Kasumi-san, my name is Ajisai Hirofumi, and I would be honored if you will consent to duel with me in the glorious arena of culinary combat! ...I mean, if you have the time, and everything..."
Hmmm. Kasumi thought about this.
"Um...Ajisai-san? I'm sorry, but...Just what brought this on? I don't even remember meeting you before..."
"Oh." The young man deflated. "Um...that is...about a week ago, I think you went and cooked at my grandfather's ramen shop...?..."
