Mischief Fragment -pactio: shooting canon [Episode 219679]

by Kestral

Naruto went into the classroom and was still lost in thought. Someone uncharitable would say it was because he so rarely went there. Someone uncharitable might find themselves ignored as Naruto really DID have a lot on his mind.

He didn't notice the looks he was getting, the murmur of various comments, as he took his usual position just down at the end of the aisle from Sasuke Uchiha.

"Naruto? Naruto?! NARUTO!"

Naruto blinked and looked up. "Oh, Iruka-sensei. Sorry, I... got a lot to think about."

"Can I see the card your pactio made?" asked Iruka.

"Uhm, right," said Naruto, taking the little book out.

"Hinata? You have one too?" asked Iruka.

"Y-yes," said Hinata, shrinking in on herself. "Just the card though, sensei."

"What's this?" asked Iruka as he flipped open the book.

"What's what?" asked Naruto and Hinata simultaneously.

"I really think you two need to look at this booklet," said Iruka, handing it back to Naruto. "I'll help you with some of the terms."

"What does it say?!" asked Kiba, echoed a moment later by most of the class.

"Never you mind," said Iruka, throwing an eraser out one window. From the yelp, apparently the audience consisted of more than just the class. "Time to get on with the three-man team assigments. Each of you will serve under a jonin. The teams are as follows..."

"oh no, Sasuke-kun," said Sakura, gazing off into the distance. "chocolate pudding is so much better than tapioca."

Sasuke edged just a little bit further away from the pink-haired kunoichi.

Ino sniffed. Vanilla was much better. Especially if you swirled in some mint as contrast.

Iruka-sensei frowned and bounced a piece of chalk off of Sakura's forehead. Over the past year she'd gotten so much worse with the daydreams about Sasuke. He REALLY had some reservations about this set up. It seemed like every fangirl in that Legion Of Sasuke Fangirls had gotten even MORE obsessed since joining that club.

"Team 7," said Iruka aloud. "Naruto Uzumaki. Sakura Haruno..."

No reaction from Naruto, Sakura on the other hand looked like someone had just handed her a death sentence. Iruka gave a mental shrug and finished. "Sasuke Uchiha."

Now SASUKE looked as if someone had just punched him in the gut, while Sakura was waving around little victory flags. Little victory flags with Sasuke's picture on them. OK, he was REALLY getting concerned about that fanclub.

"I'm not with Hinata?" asked Naruto, revealing his own concern.

"No, the decision came down from above. The Hokage wanted you to be paired together, oddly enough so did Hinata's father, but other factions were very much against it," supplied Iruka-sensei.

"Is it too late to request a transfer?" asked Sasuke.

"Oh, don't worry, Sasuke," said Sakura, little hearts in her eyes. "We can ditch Naruto and go out on ninja missions together."
