And several days after a certain highly public execution had gone down in a most unexpected manner...
Kouzuki Kallen was NOT having a good day. At all.
"What. Do. You. Mean. My. Mother. Isn't. Here."
The official flunky of the prison system was a sweating, shuddering mess, but his story wasn't changing in the slightest.
"She - she was transferred elsewhere! Those were the orders, and, and - it's not like we had any choice about -"
Oh, damn it to the heavens.
"And you - or any of your people - have absolutely no idea about where she was sent to. Is that it."
"Well...no?"
Arghhh, this was just -
Kallen stomped away from the minor flunky before she ended up doing something she'd regret afterwards, if not at the time. Kallen brought up her trusty mobile.
"No, no, nobody seems to know - yes - I'm not sure, but - "
Kallen sighed, then. There were tons and tons of people trying to find their relatives and friends, now that the 'Demon Emperor' was dead. One middle aged female Refrain-junkie who had supposedly gotten lost in the system - argh, argh, argh...
And it was then that a very nondescript man in a grey suit came up to her, a brown envelope in his hand.
"Kouzuki Kallen?"
"...Yeah?" Kallen tensed, one hand on her gun inside her jacket.
"This is for you, I believe. - You have somebody you are searching for, yes?"
Kallen stared, and made a grab for the man, who turned out to be much more agile then he looked and managed to duck away.
"I am just the messenger, Kouzuki-san. If you would?"
Kallen looked at the envelope the man was holding out. It was a totally ordinary envelop with her name handwritten on it in Japanese, as for as she could tell. But -
Kallen swallowed. That - That handwriting -
"Alright, then. Give it to me."
"Thank you, Kouzuki-san." The man made a shallow bow in her direction, handed over the envelope, and then preceded to disappear so fast that she might have thought that he was a hallucination of some sort if not for the envelope in her hand.
OK, now - if this turned out to be boobytrapped in some way -
But she didn't think it was, somehow. And Kouzuki Kallen was a girl who tended to trust her instincts...
She opened the envelope. Nope, nothing strange here, just some papers and...photos...
Several minutes later, Kallen was staring blankly at the papers and photos and whatnot.
Damn Lelouch vi Brittania or Lamperouge or 'Zero' or whoever he actually was, not that she thought that anybody actually knew that, even Lulu himself actually, to the very end -
Argh, damn it, she could think about that later, when she had the time.
As for now - she had a Mission.
