Michiru, unlike other magical girls she could name, did not have an inverse relationship between the cuteness of her outfit and the size of her brain. Thus, she knew that this wasn’t some weird dream and that she was actually married to Ranma Saotome. Well Ranma Kaioh now; Michiru couldn’t remember exactly why at the moment, but she did remember them agreeing to have Ranma take her last name.
Putting her hand to her forehead Michiru tried to calm the dull ache in the back of her head and think about what she should do. One thing that was immediately apparent to Michiru was that she would need to wake Ranma up so that the two of them could talk. Maybe between the two of them they could piece together what had happened last night that would lead them to being married. More importantly, the two of them could figure out how they could best handle their new marriage.
Michiru was personally hoping that she and her new husband could at the very least reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Getting a divorce, especially so soon after getting married, would be a very poor move on both their parts. Besides the social stigma and resulting economic problems that such a move would cause the pair, Michiru had another very valid reason for staying married to Ranma.
Long ago at the founding of the Silver Millennium it was discovered that part of the Sailor Senshi’s magic was tied into breeding. More specifically when a senshi freely gave herself to a man, she became bound to him. What this meant was that senshi magic tied the two together until death so that only that particular man could father her future children. This was not without benefits for the sailor senshi as this same magic gave them complete control over their fertility cycles, lessened the usual problems that came with pregnancy, and made the birth itself rather painless. Because each senshi line eventually needed to give birth to a successor, Michiru would be ‘stuck’ with Ranma unless he was killed.
Since Michiru did not want to become part of a marital murder case, she leaned over and started to shake Ranma awake. Ranma had been awake earlier, but he had apparently fainted due to shook. Luckily he very quickly responded to Michiru’s efforts by groaning and saying, “Uhg, when did Pops decide to take up sumo high-diving and have my head be the target?” Rubbing his eyes for a moment and then turning to face Michiru, Ranma said in a shocked voice, “So I wasn’t dreaming.”
Michiru gave Ranma a small and elegant smile and said, “This is most definitely not a dream. And this,” Michiru said as she raised her hand so that the ring was visible, “Is definitely not a figment of either of our imaginations. So Mr. Kaioh, I think that you and I need to figure out where we go from here.”
