“Now what are you doing?” asked the Fox in a combination of fear and anticipation as it watched Toltiir work.
“Nothing yet, just trying to refine this whole wing thing. I’m leaving the whole destructive side the same as before, with him gaining a tail and becoming more fox like as he becomes more powerful. But that doesn’t really work with the wings and angel motif now does it?”
“You can’t even use a one wing equals one tail scale considering angels are usually shown as having six wings at most,” agreed the Fox even as it continued to watch the cat scroll through thousands of realities to get ideas on how to handle this.
“And I’ve already had him manifest two wings, so I can’t just go back change it,” said Toltiir, causing the Nintails to raise his eyebrows in disbelief.
“Okay, so I could easily go back and alter things, but I don’t change things I’ve already changed unless I feel like it and right now I don’t feel like changing it,” amended the fragment of an all powerful being.
“Understandable,” rumbled the fox. “So lets say half a tail per wing, so three tails when he manifests all six wings. That would leave another six tails open though.”
“Hey, I can use this,” said Toltiir as an image came up of a blue angel flinging razor sharp fletchings out of his metal wings. “Distance healing would be useful. So instead of just adding wings I can add items like a flaming sword and such until he’s fully decked out as an archangel at nine tails.”
“Isn’t that a bit too aggressive for a healer?”
“Yin and Yang,” said Toltiir with a dismissive wave of his paw. “The healing side can defend against attacks to some extent, but can’t attack because any attacks would just heal the enemy. The destructive side can focus its attacks on an enemy instead of going on a berserker rampage, killing enemies and allies.” ***
What neither the Fox or Toltiir knew (simply because Toltiir was one of those beings that enjoyed surprises) was that this new system may be tested sooner rather than later.
Danzo was not at all pleased that Naruto had manifested the so called light side of the Ninetails first. He had expended considerable effort making sure that the boy was viewed with distaste by the village so that when the powers of the Fox showed itself Danzo would have a powerful weapon to use against the other ninja nations or the fools that would continue to follow the Third.
Well a good ninja was adaptable after all. Danzo would simply have to arrange a series of tests for Naruto, so he would know just how much damage the container could heal in others as well as himself.
The first thing to do would be to make a list of expendable ninja, like the boy without a sustainable chakra network that Gai was training. Then manufacture situations where only the victim, Naruto, and his spies would be watching, the boy didn’t need any more good press making the villagers love him.
The only question was if it was better to wait until the boy graduated from the academe, and could leave the village where it would be easier to arrange the accidents needed, or if he should push hard now when he had no support network.
