"There may be problems down the road that were unforeseen," warned Sakura.
"Of course," said Ataru. "That's why we'll keep track of the test subject."
The maid uniform was not particularly revealing. Not to say it didn't look nice on Makoto Kino - it most certainly did. If one compared it to her Sailor Senshi costume it actually managed to cover more.
"Goshujin-sama?" asked Makoto as she looked at Ranma. "Is something wrong?"
"Uhm, are you supposed to have cat ears and a tail?" asked Ranma, going directly to the perceived problem.
"Did someone hit you with a Confuse attack?" asked Makoto.
"Uhm, maybe?" said Ranma uncertainly.
"Damn it," said Makoto, her ears going back. "I bet it was Team Megane. Don't they ever learn? No, of course not. They still wouldn't be trying to grab your balls if they could learn."
Ranma's eyes went wide. There were people after his balls?! That could hurt!
"Don't worry, Ranma," said Makoto, noting his reaction. "I will defend your balls."
Ranma wondered exactly how bad it had gotten to have a girl like Makoto publicly defending him like that. Even if this was in some park somewhere.
"NOT SO FAST!" declared someone.
Makoto groaned. "Not YOU again!"
A scrawny boy of about fourteen came out from behind a tree. "Yes! It's me! Your rival! Uhm, girls. That's your cue."
"Baka Shinji," grumbled some redhaired girl as she and some albino girl came walking out.
"To prepare the world for devastation," emotionlessly stated the albino.
"To kick your butt with penetration," said the redhead, giving Ranma the finger.
"To protect the world from evil forces," continued the albino in the same rote voice.
"To increase our own resources," said the redhead.
"Team Eva is here to save the day," continued the albino.
"You're gonna lose, so go ahead and pray," said the redhead.
"That's our new motto?" asked Shinji.
"Pfeh, I'm still working on it," said the redhead.
"They're my rivals?" asked Ranma of Makoto.
"Hey! You can't have forgotten about US!" protested the redhead.
Makoto nodded.
"He doesn't appear to be faking," said the albino.
"Oh great," said the redhead. "And here we got our new plugsuits for this."
"I've been meaning to ask about that," said Shinji. "Aren't they kind of..."
"What do you expect?" growled the redhead. "They provide armor, they're waterproof, reduce the surface area of exposed skin to reduce the effects of some poison and spore attacks, and defend against energy drains. Of course they'd be nearly skintight."
"I'm just saying," said the boy, raising his hands defensively against the apparent ire of the redhead.
"You wanna come back later when ya got it all sorted out?" asked Ranma.
"No, actually, they do this all the time," softly said the albino.
"Oh, okay," said Ranma. This was apparently normal in this Ataru-designed world. What was he supposed to do?
"We have to fight like this mostly in preparation for the various tournaments, leading to the Grand Tournament," said the albino. "That would be the one the God-Emperor attends."
"Ah hah," said Ranma, figuring that would be Ataru. All he had to do then was get to this Grand Tournament, wait for Ataru to show himself, then get things FIXED.
"Well, whatever, you're not going to that Tournament, cause WE are," stated the redhead. "Team Eva challenges Team Saotome! Let's battle!"
