Horo woke up, and panicked. “What the hell? Where am I? Why am I in a metal box?” she shouted. She then put her hand to her neck and
“Don’t worry miss you are in an ambulance, and on your way to the hospital,” the officer responded gently.
“And here’s your pouch, I was holding on to it for you. Why were you in the park naked and what’s with the wheat?” Ranma asked curiously, while handing the pouch back to her.
“Ambulance? Hospital? What are they? What Park? Where are my clothes? Why are you taking me to this hospital place?”
The three humans in the ambulance look at her like she is crazy. The paramedic then said, “She appears to be suffering from severe memory loss, I’m not sure you can get any answers from her…”
The paramedic was interrupted by Horo shouting, “I AM NOT SUFFERING FROM MEMORY LOSS! IT’S JUST THAT NONE OF YOU ARE MAKING ANY SENCE! SO, WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Ranma held up his hand, and said, “Ya don’t have to shout, I’ll tell you what’s going on. Earlier today I was talking to my friends, and an explosion happened. I went to check on where the explosion happened you were lying naked in a crater, so I put my shirt on you and carried you to where an ambulance could take you to a hospital. An ambulance is a vehicle for moving sick andor injured people from one location to another, and a hospital is where sick andor injured people go to. Does that help?”
“Thank you, it does slightly. In all my hundreds of years, I have never seen, or heard of, one of these ambulances, are they unique to your town?” Horo asked.
The officer looked at her strangely, and said, “I don’t know where you came from but ambulances exist all over the world. In fact I would be surprised if you didn’t see one on your way to the park. Well anyway miss would you mind answering some questions for me, since you claim not to have any memory problems?”
“I guess, and the name is Horo!” she responded.
“Fine, Miss Horo. Do you know what happened to put you in that situation? Where do you live? Do you have any family? And a question out of personal curiosity, why do you have the wolf ears and tail?”
“No, nowhere right now, don’t know if their still alive, and because I’m a wolf in human form. Does that answer your questions?”
“You’re a wolf? That’s impossible…” the officer started.
He looks honest enough, and the younger one does as well, Horo thought. She continued with her line of thought with, but he looks so clueless and ignorant. Kinda cute for a human though. “I can prove it to you and the kid, if you let me get to an open area.” Horo said.
“Let the paramedic check you first, and if he says your fine he can drop us off at a park in Juban, after we get you some clothes. If you aren’t lying, I’ll see what I can do to get you a place to stay,” the officer said, as he motioned the paramedic over. He then said, “Check her health and if there is nothing wrong drop me, the boy and her off at the nearest park, after a stop at a clothing store.”
The paramedic moved over to Horo, and said to her, “Please sit up.” After she did so, he performed a quick check up, while the other two males in the ambulance turned their back to them. A few minutes later he said, “It’s safe to look, and she has no injury besides minor bruising on her back.”
“Can you stop at a clothing store quickly so we can get her some clothes?” the officer asked.
“Fine,” The paramedic replied, and quickly spoke into the intercom.
A few minutes later they stopped at a bargain clothing outlet. “I’ll be right back,” the officer stated.
While the officer was away Ranma looked at Horo. He had one thought running through his head, cute. But before he could get up the nerve to talk to her the officer came back holding a simple blue cotton shirt with a matching blue skirt.
“Here,” the officer said handing the clothes to the wolf eared girl.
Horo looked at the clothes before she said, “I am Horo the Wise! You expect me to wear such simple clothing?”
“Look lady, I don’t get paid enough to buy you designer clothing, so unless you have enough money to do so I suggest you take them,” the cop responded.
The ambulance driver said by way of the intercom, “There is a park across the street.”
Horo showing no signs of modesty stood up upon hearing this, took off Ranma’s shirt, and put on the clothing that was offered. When she turned around she saw the three males turned away blushing madly. “What? Wolves don’t HAVE modesty I only wear clothing in this form because it’s expected.” She said.
The policeman and Ranma nodded blushing and climbed out of the ambulance. When Horo followed she stopped with her eyes wide, and her jaw on the ground. To say she was shocked at the site was an understatement, for the last time she saw outside was before she fell unconscious, and at that time she was in a world/time that was the equivalent of tenth to fourteenth century Europe, and now was facing her first glimpse of late twentieth century Japan.
“Are you okay Horo?” Ranma asked, just before he had to catch her as she fell in a dead feint.
