Her opponent matched every move, constantly keeping her on the defensive as he probed for an opening.
Doctor Lorelei stared. "Cloud? He's not like you, is he?"
The swordsman snorted. "No. He's not 'enhanced' either. At least not by the method used on me."
"Findings confirmed," said Cherry, her eyes glowing a faint blue. "Master Ranma is human. No bionics detected. No mako residue. No evidence of chemical enhancement."
"You'd need a blood test to be sure of that," said Lorelei, though she had a feeling it couldn't be that anyway.
"No, if it were a form of chemical enhancement the strain on the body would be detectable at this range," stated Cherry with absolute certainty.
"It's not traditional magic or magic enhancement or a supernatural ability either," said one of the others. "He's just very good at the martial arts, for his age and experience level."
Ranma was frowning. Her strength and speed had increased dramatically as she tried to fight him for real. The power behind her counterattacks was VERY high. If she connected with him full-on, he'd expect to get seriously hurt.
The problem was that she WAS relying on strength and speed and her own innate toughness. Her combat skills were minimal.
Joint locks wouldn't be all that effective against Saki, likewise pressure points. As a combat android, she would be immune to such things or at least strongly resistant. She moved in human fashion though and didn't seem to have Arm Cannon or even a Rocket Punch or similar manuever.
"Hey, howcome you don't have Rocket Punch?" asked Ranma. Wasn't that a basic attack of androids?
"None of the android types have Rocket Punch," explained Doctor Lorelei with the air of someone who'd been asked this before. Repeatedly. "The connection wire is slow to retract, wireless connections can go fritzy or be hacked, and it interferes with normal functioning of an arm to try and fit the other various mechanisms in there."
"Oh," said Ranma, dodging and tumbling away from Saki's attacks. So an arm had to look mostly like an arm in order to work like an arm? "No ranged attacks?"
"She can request a weapon if she needs one," said Doctor Lorelei, still safely on the sidelines thank you very much.
"Any of the others got one?" asked Ranma.
ding ding
Saki stopped attacking, looking somewhat vexed, and returned to her corner.
"There are some with ranged attacks," admitted Doctor Lorelei as Ranma started catching his breath and caught a water bottle tossed him by one of the maids in the audience. "Even the combat models have specific roles to fill."
