Vrakarhesjing: Breaking the ice... and several ribs. [Episode 226965]

by Foster the Imposter

Now there are a few facts about dragons that range from commonly known to uncommon. First, they're freaking powerful, only fight one or even think about it if you have a plan that takes into account everything from an endless maze in enchanted darkness to an army of angels or demons depending on what type your going after. If you don't think of everything, you're going to die. Well if you challenge an older one, a young adult if you're lucky will cripple you for life and a child will leave behind very nasty scars. If they don't kill you, and that's a big if.

Second, and this ties in with the first, is stay the hell away from their treasure, a Dragon values their hoard as highly as their own life. Indeed their lives or rather the end of it is tied to their hoards. By eating a significant portion a Dragon can simply when it's Twilight is approaching will it's life away in a painless process much like going to sleep. Or conversely they can use it to become part of the world and have their spirit guide any Dragon that takes refuge in the large area that now makes up their immobile body. The Refuge that the metallic Dragons lived on was actually about two dozens of these in close conjunction creating a paradise for raising children or simply living.

And still some Dragon's can use their hoard to escape the grip of death entirely, becoming Ascendants and immortal, Riikano was on such a path. There was also the option of Lichdom that a hoard offered but that was more of a Chromatic Dragon thing. After all, what kind of self respecting Dragon would want to live in a rotting corpse for all eternity?

So it's not exactly unreasonable to believe that a Dragon's soul is in their hoard, so it stands to reason that Genma having been caught with his hand in the treasure pile or rather his paw far too close for either comfort or an accident had put Ranma in a VERY bad mood. Now normally he'd be warming up and pumping these people for information about his origins, he'd always been curious... but if it cost him his hoard he really didn't care that much about where he was from or why he was here, past be damned, those gems were his future.

At the moment he didn't see answers, he didn't see allies hell he could barely make out their races. All he could see were the worst type of criminals in the mind of a Dragon. Thieves. Oh he had kept his temper but it needed out now, they were still far too close to his treasure, his stream and his (still incomplete) lair. So he brought up names, names that anyone in the world could respect, names carved into the annuls of history for deeds centuries past and mere decades ago. Names that made the cruel mages of Thay quiver in fear and tyrants cry.

To no effect. If anything it only seemed to have invited more strangeness as a gnome splashed water on him, addressed him as a girl then groped his chest despite the lack of mammary glands. He had no patience for such nonsense and promptly cast a shocking grasp spell and held the offending little man at arms length and kicked him out of sight and into the sea. That felt good.

There was a silence now and he was getting edgy, he wanted them away from his treasure, away from his home. How dare they come out of nowhere and demand to be in his life? How dare that woman whom he had never seen before presume to be his mother? How dare that shaggy black and white bear go anywhere near his precious horde, and how dare that gnome grab him like that? Did they not know they were dealing with a dragon? Were they suicidal?

"So thou truly art a foul beast!" one of them a male in what looked like... a baggy dress and carrying a stick said. This got Ranma out of his slight daze.

"Excuse me?!" he hissed at the impertinent, how dare that shaved monkey call him foul? How dare he?

"You heard foul fiend! I Tatewaki Kuno the Immortal Samurai shall smite thee!" Kuno shouted and charged only for Ranma to catch the boken and with a chop then shifted quickly back into his dragon form and slammed the idiot away and into a tree so hard that it shattered, and with that something inside Ranma unclenched.

"Now if you'd all get away from my stream and hoard we can talk like reasonable beings." he said after a sigh.
