"I take it you have something to report?" asked 'Tobi' as Zetsu formed and stepped forward.
"The Nine-tails left the Elemental Countries and has vanished," said Zetsu.
"It is of no consequence. Sooner or later it will return, and by then we will be ready to strike," said the ninja with the swirled mask.
Hinata felt moisture on the breeze, looked skyward for a moment, then considered things.
"Kiba. Could you practice Akamaru's 'Dynamic Marking' a little further away?"
"Why? I was just closer so I could see what was for lunch."
"Because I was setting out lunches and the spray just went past."
"...oh."
"I believe I spotted a curry shop," said Shino.
"Naruto Uzumaki left the Leaf village, some kind of training journey," said Temari.
Gaara nodded once, not turning from where he was staring out at the desert.
"Why were you asking, anyway?" asked Temari, a little boldened by the lack of reaction.
"Something odd, a feeling," said Gaara. "As if a balance somewhere had been disturbed. It disturbed the Shukaku. It felt... afraid. For just a moment."
Temari's eyes widened. The Shukaku? Afraid? It was a force of nature, a demon consumed with bloodlust. Something had caused it to respond in fear?
Gaara kept looking out into the desert, mostly content with silence. Unfortunately, there was nothing out there that could answer his questions. Nor was the one-tailed beast inside him able (or willing) to provide insight.
