Sango watched in concern as Ranma-chan tried to warm up by the fire she'd just built. Despite the heat from the flames, the petite red-head was still shivering, despite obvious efforts to hide that fact. "Ranma-chan, perhaps you should get out of those wet clothes. You'll catch cold if you don't," the Yōkai Taijiya suggested. Noticing the dampness of her own kimono, Sango decided to take her own advice.
So it was as Ranma was hanging her red shirt and her black pants over a low branch that she saw her companion start taking her own clothes off. "Sango-san! I'M A GUY!" The red-head protested.
"I know. However, your body is that of a woman right now, and I trust you more than some other men I know," she replied as her kimono dropped to the ground, revealing her battle garb.
Ranma could only sigh, partly in relief and partly -- she squashed that line of thinking there as she tried to warm up by the fire again, stifling a yawn. Thinking it best that they got some sleep, and noticing Sango's own yawn, Ranma lay down.
"I guess we should get some sleep," Sango said.
"But how will we keep warm? I mean, it ain't like either of us has a blanket," Ranma pointed out, "Maybe we could..." The rest came out as an incoherent mumble.
"We could what?"
"S-share body heat..." Ranma repeated, making sure she was heard this time and bracing for the oncoming pounding....that never came?
"Oh..." Came Sango's reply, unsure of what to do next. She wasn't mad or anything. After all, she had already stated that she trusted the stranger. She simply stared at the girl quietly for a couple of minutes.
"Yeah, I mean, even if I am really a guy, I've got a girl's body right now, and that fire ain't gonna last all night, so..." Getting nervous, Ranma-chan babbled her justification.
Sango smiled at the shorter girl and crawled over to her, "You don't need to make a show out of it, you suggested that with good intentions. And I already told you that I trust you," she whispered in an attempt to put Ranma-chan at ease.
Ranma let out a nervous chuckle as she rubbed the back of her head. "Sorry 'bout that. Habit, y'know?"
The taller woman nodded with a yawn as she settled herself close to Ranma-chan. "Well, I'll be getting some sleep now..." Sango murmured and was quickly asleep.
"Good idea..." The red-head muttered and lay down with her back near the other woman's front and closed her eyes. She felt Sango's arm slip around her waist and let her own arm rest over it as she drifted off to sleep, too. Both women slept like that while:
