Chained World - Rei: Always A Party [Episode 227651]

by Kender

At the show of interest from her new owner and master, Taki found herself rather pleased with this turn of events. It was no put down on her father, but the idea of not only having someone who had knowledge on demon fighting, but had some experience in the field be her master was certainly appealing. They would have both a shared camaraderie from that sort of activity, but they could share some of the same beliefs as well.

Letting her lips curve up just a bit, the ninja demon hunter bowed her head in a show of humility. "I go in and handle instances of... activity to keep them from spreading into larger problems most of the time."

"Stamp out the embers before the fire gets started, huh?" Ranma murmured.

"Exactly. And you?"

"Similar, but I kind of just fight the troublemakers where I find them. Not all of the things of magic are that bad."

"I understand that, of course," Taki murmured, and gave a small shrug that many boys would have loved to watch. "Some of my enemies have been merely human, empowered or not."

"I've kind of noticed that it's humans who start that kind of mess either way."

"Really? I wouldn't have thought that others would have noticed...."

"Ranma, you really shouldn't bore them with all this," Genma grumbled, furrowing his brow as he spoke to his son. "It's not like that sort of thing is really all that important."

"Like hell. Try remembering that it was all your fault that this sort of thing started in the first place!" the younger Saotome snapped, shooting a glare right back at his father.

"I only did what I thought was right."

"What did he do?" a clearly interested Nabiki asked.

The pigtailed boy gave a small snort. "He'd heard about a temple in the mountains where I could get special training. Only when he was tryin' to show me off, he wound up attracting a different sort of attention."

"The tengu," Akane stated.

"Yup, and even then the idiot didn't understand what he'd gotten for me."

"Stupid boy! Treat me with some respect!" his father bellowed with a scowl.

"Why should I? You get us into plenty of trouble even with regular sorts of people!"

"When did I do something like that?!"

"Oh, I don't know," Ranma drawled as a sarcastic grin spread across his features. "How's about at that street fighting arena over in Nagoya?"

"You can't blame me for trying to save our lives! Why, it was my use of kicks and thrown weapons that saved the day!"

"Yeah, but you didn't pay any attention to how makeshift that place was... or that there was a major cooling thing right there!"

"I don't think that this ended well," Asuka flatly put in.

Rei turned her own cool gaze on the redhead. "It was attached to a high temperature furnace, which then overheated and exploded."

More than one of the Tendo girls winced at that image.

"How was I supposed to know about that?" Genma whined, noisily sipping his tea. "I thought that it was just kept warm to make things uncomfortable, and besides, I was fighting for my life."

Sighing, Taki turned to look at her new Master's father. "Why is it that I think that most of your problems have come from instances of your mistakes?"

"Come on, it's not like I tried to cause problems. Why, I was even able to come up with solutions to our troubles. There was the time with those crazed villagers once."

"What are you.... Oh, right. Those nutjobs," Ranma breathed.

"If you had stopped trying to force your way through everything, we might not have had to go through all that mess in the first place!"

"They weren't nice?" Kasumi asked.

"They were totally insane!"

His son gave a reluctant nod. "He's right about that. Those guys didn't seem all that terrible at first. When we first got there, it had just seemed to be an old traditional village out in the middle of nowhere."

"Only they really didn't like outsiders, and tended to sacrifice girls from a certain bloodline for their rituals."

"We kind of... interrupted their little ceremony and saved the poor kid from being... you know."

"I think that I know where you're talking about," Taki murmured.

This mildly interested Asuka on an intellectual level, and reached out for this bit of information on her sister's calling. "You mind telling us where this village is?"

"YES!" came three emphatic voices from those who had been involved in such activities.

"Fine... Be that way."

"Sounds like you two have been fighting for your lives a lot," Nabiki remarked.

"Well, it's not always that way," Ranma allowed.

Genma shrugged. "There was that time when we had to stop that would be inventor's overgrown machine."

"And we did meet those people who were from clans of pirates...."

"That one captain girl did seem to like you."

"She was fun to be around. And that priestess girl from the Philippines was nice."

"I suppose. But for me, it was nice that we went to Korea to get you some training at that dojo," Genma intoned.

"You never seem to have time for the girls, do you?"

"Silly boy, you don't even seem to understand, but then you are the one who keeps on wasting time with them when you don't have to."

"And you wondered why that woman in the kimono wanted to whack you with her umbrella," scoffed the pigtailed boy.

"Someone has to keep a level head."

After glancing over at her Master's father, Rei turned to look at her fellow slaves, only to shake her head at his words, while:
