"True," allowed Soun.
"This is my son, Ranma Saotome," Genma said with a brief jab with one thumb. "Martial artist trained in the Saotome style."
"That's it?" asked Ranma after a moment. "That's 'properly'?"
"Allow this one to do the proper job," said Rei softly.
"Please," said Ranma, sitting back. After all, his sword-sensei in the Shinmei-ryuu would have his hide (quite possibly literally - she was genuinely scary after all) if he didn't show some respect for traditional forms at least on occasion.
"This one is Rei al'Saotome, servant to Ranma Saotome," began Rei, moving slightly away from the table in order to bow from a seated position. "I present my Master, Ranma Saotome. Heir to the Saotome School of Anything Goes Indiscriminate Grappling. Honored Student of the Shinmei-ryuu Demonslayer School of Swordcraft and of the Thundercrest Mountain Tengu School."
"Which style do you favor?" asked Akane, knowing that while one might know several styles - a fighter had to have one over the other.
"Mostly Thundercrest," admitted Ranma. "I've picked up a couple of moves from the Shinmei School and such, but I'm not a strict practitioner of their style. If I was, I'd have to give up practicing Thundercrest."
"Also practitioner," continued Rei when the interruption was apparently finished, "of the Gentle Fist style and wielder of the sacred sword -"
"Never mind all that," interrupted Genma. "The important part's already been given."
Taki glared at Genma, as far as SHE was concerned this was the good part.
"I am Kasumi Tendo," said Kasumi, her gaze fixed on her teacup. "I am a Level 2 Domestic. Please accept my service."
"Uhm, sure," said Ranma, fidgeting a little.
"Hiya, I'm Asuka Langley Soryuu," said the redhead. "Charmed, I'm sure."
"You should give the Master an idea of what you're good at," prompted Nabiki.
Asuka shrugged, not particularly caring what Akane thought and not particularly interested in this particular Master. Oh, he was fairly attractive and fit-looking, but he didn't have the mature look she found more appealing. "Mechanics. Piloting. Driving."
"Nabiki," said Nabiki with a nod of her head. "Finance and retail work mostly."
"Akane," identified the next girl. "Formerly arena pit slave of the Yakuza, gladiatorial combat."
"Oh?" asked Ranma. "Hokkaido, right?"
"You can tell?" asked Akane, genuinely surprised.
"Your tattoos, they're typical of that circuit," said Ranma simply. "I hope you don't mind that I've beaten the snot out of some of your former bosses."
"Not at all," was Akane's nearly emotionless reply. Nearly because there was a faint note of approval there.
"Shampoo, of the Joketsuzoku," said Shampoo. "Fighter, waitress, Amazon."
"Taki. Demonhunter," said the ninja-dressed girl.
"Oh?" asked Ranma, intrigued again.
