“Is this for real?!”
”Yes my lord, the Emperor knows you and the others Knights just arrived but he has insisted you be part of a task force sent to Kamine Island to re-secure the site there.” A Britannian soldier says as he stands before Suzaku, Gino, and Anya.
“What about the part of the report that says it’s that Gundam Knightmare?” Gino inquires as he looks over Suzaku’s shoulder at the order form on a clipboard that the Knight of Seven was holding.
“I can’t confirm beyond the Emperor’s orders my lord.”
“Well with Lancelot still with Lloyd there’s only so much I can do.” Suzaku sighs in frustration over the situation. “Gino, Anya since I can’t sortie I’ll provide tactical and logistical back up in a one man flier. It’ll be up to you and the rest of the assembled force to do the bulk of the heavy work if combat breaks out.”
“No prob, but are you sure you’ll be safe in just a dinky flier?” Gin asks.
“I’ll stay clear so you guys won’t have to save me if anything happens.” Suzaku allows a wan smile. “However we all must exercise caution… we have no idea what its intentions are, and why it’s on the island.”
“Given the run around it gave Lord Guilford and his men, caution should be exercised.” Anya muses as she jots something down in her data-diary. “However, push comes to shove we must destroy it.”
“Gee Anya; you make it sound so easy.” Gino sweat drops. “We still don’t know much about that Gundam thing.”
”That’s a fact, and one nobody in the chain of command likes. Even Lloyd said whatever technology is behind that machine is beyond our knowledge. The entire Camelot research team even agreed it has to be using a power source beyond Sakuradite to power its frame on that scale. Not to mention those light particles it emits can cause jamming effects. Then there’s the beam weapon, there’s just too many factors about it are unknown!”
Euro Universe: Off the Coastline of Italy
“I’m amazed even after the resounding defeat Sir Kururugi dealt them mere days ago, they still insist on fighting.”
Without even looking at his subordinate Prince Schneizel El Britannia replies to said subordinate’s question. “Sadly Kanon, human beings are often conflict-seeking creatures. Instead of considering peaceful alternatives when faced with overwhelming force, they will pick up sabers, rattle them and go to war. I cannot fault their desire to defend their homeland but we’ve shown them continuing to drag out the conflict will be detrimental to both sides. Yet in terms of resources and numbers we can outlast them, yet they continue to fruitlessly fight instead of seek the better means of ending this.”
Watching the line of Panzer Hummel’s continue to fire at the beaches where Sutherlands were unloading from Knightmare scaled deployment boats; Kanon shuts his eyes and shakes his head. “They’d make it so much easier for themselves if they’d open up for diplomacy. So many Areas are treated so harshly because of the level in which they resisted the occupation. That’s why you and I try peaceful negotiation and appeal to the diplomacy tables before war because it will just be a waste of lives and make things worse in the end.”
“Prince Schneizel!” One of the carrier’s radar operators turns in his chair and stands up to face the Prince. “The long range radar is having some sort of interference problem.”
“Interference problem?”
The operator nods and shows his display; which was startling to distort badly to near utter uselessness.”
“What could be causing it?” Kanon says aloud in a puzzled tone.
“My Lord a fast moving object is approaching the battlefield from the South-East!”
Moving towards the observation window facing that side Schneizel pulls out a pair of binoculars to take a gander. He could see it fast approaching; the bodily mainly orange with black and white trim. What struck him most about the craft besides it was nearly as big as a float carrier was the strange… light it was producing. “Could it be?” He murmurs almost to himself.
The aircraft flies onward; tilting itself a few degrees to allow the beam machine gun mounted under it to have a clear shot at the lines of Sutherlands on the beach. A spray of pink beam fire riddles the beach, tearing the Sutherlands apart as the fighter craft makes its first pass.
“That was three squads of Sutherlands! What country has a fighter craft like that?” Kanon exclaims in shock. “Especially with its size-“
“Kanon, look at the light particles it’s emitting!” Schneizel insists as he keeps following the machine with his binoculars.
“Light particles?” The aide takes an offered pair of high-spec binoculars from a com-officer and eyes the aircraft. “That light, sir you don’t think-“
“My Lord it’s making a pass for the artillery battleships!”
Moving lower above the ocean, the lift generated by the fighter caused the ocean to swell and create waves in front of it as it approached the battleships. When it looks like it is going to ram the ships it turns suddenly into the air, causing the waves it caused to wash over the ships. Not sinking them, but toying with them.
Inside Arios cockpit Allelujah sighs, “Okay Hallelujah I pulled a Maverick on them, let’s finish this up.”
Oh you’re no fun!
“Sorry but I’ll be handling the majority of this operation, I want to make the Britannian’s run, not play aerial tricks all day.”
What? You’re not going to wipe them all out?
“Dead men tell no tales, now then; Arios: commencing Gundam attack!”
Arios banks to make a turn, flying back at the battleship group, the fighter craft transforms in mid-air to a humanoid form.
“Another Gundam… so my hunch about there being more of them was correct.” Schneizel murmurs in both a mixture of awe and mild annoyance as he witnessed Arios shooting each of the three battleships with its beam machine gun, setting their ammo caches ablaze.
Kanon lowers his binoculars, the shock on his face a rarity. “Another one, and this one is like the Tristan; able to transform from a fighter craft mode to a Frame mode.”
“Yes, whoever is behind those machines is well aware of the advantage of outfitting a combat unit for multiple mission types. The first one was obviously intended for melee with that sword, this one is high speed hit and run tactics.” Schneizel says, the analytical scientist within him showing through.
Arios flies back towards the beach head, firing bursts from both his hand rifle and the hidden submachine guns built into the Gundam’s forearms into the Sutherlands.
“Kanon fire a retreat flare.”
Kanon looks at his Prince with surprise.
“We’re out gunned at the moment, if we stay that Gundam will continue to tear us apart.”
“Prince Schneizel what’s to stop it from continuing to pick us off as we retreat?” The helmsman asks.
“If he acts like the other one did, he’ll be content forcing us to flee the battlefield.” Schneizel reasons as he turns to his crew. “Give the order now!”
“My lord!”
Out of the corner of his eye, Allelujah sees the main carrier fire a colored flare, “A retreat signal? Good then they got the message without having to destroy more of them.”
Bah! You only wiped out 15% of their fighting force!
“Still that fifteen was enough, we’ll monitor the beach area until they’re out of range. Then we’ll head back to the Ptolemaios.”
I guess one good outcome of being done so soon is a chance to get back for snuggle time with Marie.
“Honestly you animal…”
I’m part of you Allelujah! Just remember that! Hahaha!
“Some days I’d wish you were asleep again.”
