Rai wasn't sure how long he had stayed there, sitting in that chair while the others finally finished subduing their comrade. While the two men holding Setsuna seemed a bit worried when he went limp in their arms, their commanding officer immediately took charge. "That should hold him for a bit. Take him to the infirmary and strap him down tight in one of the beds."
"You sure about that?" asked Lockon.
"It's just as a precaution," said Sumeragi as a worried look manifested itself on her face. "Back there... it was like he was fighting off some spiritual possession or something..."
"Maybe you should ask Rai over there..." Allelujah took a quick glance to the side and mentally scratched that idea out, noticing how uneasy the white haired youth looked. "... although it doesn't look like he's ready to give answers."
"It might be best to put him in solitary confinement for a little bit. Just until things cool down." Sumeragi turned over to their guest. "I hope you understand that this is for everyone's safety."
Rai merely nodded, not wanting to trust his voice right now since he wasn't sure if his Geass was still active or not.
"Wait, Ms. Sumeragi," interrupted Tieria from his position. "Can you leave him with me for a moment? I have some things I want to ask him."
"You sure that's a good idea? What about his Geass?"
The hologram stepped into the room and approached Rai. "By my understanding from what Setsuna told us earlier, Geass can only affect organics. If this is correct as far as you know, please nod or shake your head."
Once again, he nodded.
Tieria turned his attention to the others for a moment. "As a hologram, his Geass wouldn't be able to influence me so you can just let me handle things here. Setsuna needs medical attention and monitoring."
"Alright. Just don't give Rai too much grief. I think he's already feeling pretty guilty for not being able to control what happened," said Sumeragi before she left the room with Lockon, Allelujah and an unconscious Setsuna.
Rai waited until he was certain that those three were out of hearing range before trying to speak. "I... I'm s-sorry back there. I didn't expect..."
"Tell me... was it true that you were somehow able to witness Setsuna's memories?"
"Yes, but..."
Tieria's red eyes flashed dangerously behind his holographic glasses. "Then I will ask you this. What were you thinking when you gave Setsuna a command like that?! If you saw first hand on how affected he was by religious doctrine, then how could you give him such an order?!"
"I didn't know that he would react like that! I just thought that... if you saw him praising God like a happy religious fellow, then you'll be able to understand the dangers of Geass! But somehow, he resisted with all of his strength..." It was a first for Rai to see something since in each past instance that he used his Geass, the victim would always do his bidding. "...... honestly, I didn't know."
"That doesn't change the fact that with his current condition, there's no way that he'll be able to pilot." He paused for a moment before regaining control of himself. "Well, in any case, I won't bother to keep chewing you out on this. There's no point."
"Is there any way I can make up for this? Please tell me!" The look in Rai's eyes was one of determination, reflecting his hardened resolve. It didn't take long for Tieria to go along with what Setsuna had suggested earlier back on the bridge.
"If you're serious about this, then I would like to put you through some tests and simulations."
His determined look changed to one of puzzlement. "For what?"
"To see if you're capable of serving as a Gundam Meister."
