Okay, as long as it isn't a shinigami. That's already been done.
"Uhm, right, so what kind of benefits if it's not a nine-tailed demon fox," asked Naruto, not entirely sure how to take that.
Oh some of the basics with the tailed beast thing. Faster healing, boost in the old chakra department, that sort of thing. Other benefits depend on which god or goddess gets put in there. Thor, for example, is the Norse god of thunder. Having easy access to Thunder element, some resistance to thunder attacks, and increased strength and toughness. Eilistraee would be increased speed and agility, and would probably help you out with the weapons skills. Get a sword when you can. Helm would be good if you wanted to do something ninja-ey and notice more of what's going on around you. Tyr doesn't really fit you, the whole dedicated-to-justice thing. Mystra would mean becoming a mage, which isn't quite you either really.
"What's a mage?"
Sort of a ninjutsu master, but one that really isn't good with hand-to-hand fighting. Lots of ninjutsu, sort of, but very limited taijutsu.
"Oh," said Naruto, though he thought the idea of doing LOTS of ninjutsu sounded good. When your average mission at the start of it all was catching a damn cat, that might not be so useful. When it was bringing some damn fool back to the village because he had terminal stick-up-butt-itis and vengeance on the brain, maybe more so. Except being weak in taijutsu probably would screw with him there.
Maybe an atomic punch... nah. Landscape gets messed up enough.
"What about my memories of the future?" asked Naruto abruptly. "It's all going to be GONE?"
Mostly. Not that things would go the same way, since if you've got something beside the Kyubi in you - things are going to get off track fast.
"Oh," said Naruto. "Well, I think that of those, the one that sounds most interesting is-"
