A Father's Choice - Dune: The Kage and the Warmaster [Episode 232525]

by HistorianoftheKais

The Sandaime stood outside of Konoha's gates with a platoon of ANBU calmly waiting for the strange flying contraption to land. It had been rather shocking for the villagers when the first of these things was spotted in the sky. Some had claimed that they were monsters. However, it had been quickly determined by more level headed individuals that the strange flying objects were machines that were apparently flown by people. Obviously, the people of this new land were more knowledgeable when it came to building machines. Hopefully, that didn't also mean that they were more skilled at fighting.

Gurney got out of the Ornithopter he was in as soon as it landed. The warmaster quickly noticed the welcoming committee. It was immediately obvious to Gurney that every member of the unknown squatters was a highly trained fighter. The Warmaster was honestly a little uneasy with what he noticed. Everything he could detect from the foreigners screamed elite to him. These newcomers might be as tough as the Emperor's Sardaukar. They were definitely in a league above that of his guards who were the best that House Atreides had to offer.

It was obvious to the Hokage who the leader of the people in the flying machines were. Sarutobi calmly walked halfway between the ANBU and the Atreides soldiers. He then calmly stated, "Greetings and welcome to Konoha." Unknown to almost everyone, the Hokage's hat had a special seal on it that would allow what he said to be translated into the language used by the Atreides.

Gurney nodded his head grateful that things were at least starting on the right foot. "Thanks, but might I ask how you people got here? It is rather surprising when a village suddenly appears out of no where. My lord, Duke Leto Atreides, was surprised when you all suddenly appeared within his domain."

Sarutobi quickly assessed the situation and decided what he should tell Gurney. "I am sorry for any unease that your lord had because of our arrival. We did not intend to intrude upon his or anyone else's land. Our arrival here was merely our attempt to insure our village's survival. A demon with enough power to casually destroy mountain ranges and create tsunamis was spotted heading in the direction of our village."

This did not sit well with Gurney. He had no problem with the idea of evacuating civilians. However, he was concerned about the fact that there was something out there that could make hardened fighters like he saw in front of him just pick up and flee. Also, there was the fact that this village elder hadn't explained how this village came to Caladan. Gurney walked a little closer to the Hokage and then spoke up. "Okay, I can understand why you came here and I think the Duke will understand as well. However, I need the answer to three questions. First, how did you arrive on Caladan. Second, What planet did your village originally come from. Finally, are you willing to recognize Duke Leto Atreides as lord of this planet and therefore yourselves now that you are on it?"

Trying not to let the second question bother him, Sarutobi quickly replied to the Warmaster. "We arrived here by way of a jutsu created by my predecessor that enabled him to send the village to another land in order to insure everyone's safety. I can't answer your second question as the world was never given a name. We just called the area of the continent we lived on the Elemental Countries. I and the people in Konoha are more then willing to recognize your duke as our feudal lord if these are his lands. Furthermore, I promise as the Hokage that the full military support of Konoha behind your duke if he would be willing to let us live his rule as we have always been: providing our services to those willing to pay and are approved of by the lord of our land."

Gurney smiled when he heard the last bit of the Hokage's reply. Fighters of the caliber he was seeing were willing to serve the duke? Heck, if this Konoha could provide only a hundred warriors it would be a fair trade for this insignificant island. With a smile Gurney said, "Let us talk details my good man."
