He was soundly ignored.
"Aoi" had been renamed "Ami" after Ranma had puzzled out the scratches and had two kittens in his lap that he was petting to the accompaniment of near deafening purrs.
The other animals merely stood around and glared.
Genma sighed. Clearly they weren't going to be reasonable. What kami had he offended. "Well, in that case, if you're going to stick around - you'll have to feed and take care of yourselves. We hardly have that much food for ourselves." The animals would tire of this or get hungry and wander off. Then he could train Ranma in this unbeatable technique!

They had gathered, and they remembered. There were problems from the lack of hands, voices, and that they were all a few months old at most, but they were attempting to cope.
Still missing: Michiru, Usagi, and Rei.
Haruka was a dog. Ami thought she was a greyhound but as Haruka was a puppy who had been left to go wild - that wasn't certain. None of them had been experts in dog breeds.
Setsuna was an owl. A very young one still. She could fly and had excellent vision. She also apparently had a plan.
Ami was a blue-furred kitten whom Ranma had rescued from a trashcan. The boy had needed a friend and had hidden the kitty from his father for almost a full day before she'd been discovered. Her Ami-self was shy. Her kitty-self wanted to cuddle with warm-lap-provider and be fed little tiny bits of fish and chicken. She started purring just at the thought.
Minako was a tabby with white socks and a crescent moon mark on her head. She had not found a way to talk however so she was likely not a mooncat.
Hotaru was a purplish looking cat with violet eyes that didn't look quite right. The ears looked funny and the tail was too long and she was small even for a kitten.
Making plans was difficult. None of them could speak and scratching everything out in the dirt was more difficult than it sounded. Paws and claws had never been intended to perform that level of fine manipulation.
Finally, most of them gave up in frustration. Setsuna-owl had mentioned a cure and sticking close to the boy. So that's what they'd do. If she knew something or was just reading the lines of destiny was uncertain to the others through the communication barrier.
Two days later, Haruka appeared with a white rabbit that had a gold crescent mark on her forehead. Usagi had rejoined them and there was much rejoicing as soon as they could convince her she wasn't going to be eaten. Haruka didn't mention how close it had come to that - she'd actually been trying to find something to eat when the scent of her prey had registered.
Nearly a week since the Nekoken attempt, a golden eagle dropped out of the sky like a thunderbolt of some kami. Then fell over because she was still young and inexperienced. Makoto.
By this point Haruka was nearly out of her canine mind with worry. No sign of Michiru, and as most of them had had close calls prior to meeting up with Ranma - it was quite imaginable that she would turn out to have not made it.
Ami pointed out that she might have ended up far away, or considering her affinity with the sea - something like a dolphin which couldn't normally make the trip inland.
When they did finally run across Michiru, it turned out she was a
