Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, silently smoked his pipe, waiting for the assistant instructor to Team Nine to arrive for their meeting.
Granted, she was just ten minutes late, nowhere near Kakashi-late—his appointment had been scheduled an hour ago, so he figured the chronically late Jounin might show up sometime after he met with Team Nine’s instructors.` But still, he did have other things to do.
With a puff of smoke, Anko teleported into the room, surprising the duo of Yamato and Sarutobi in her appearance. Her trademark clothing missing, she was wearing a black shirt, white skirt, and missing her trademark trench coat.
“Sorry I’m late,” she started, towel still around her hair. “But after a slight … training accident, I had to get changed.”
“Training accident?” Sarutobi asked.
“Well, wouldn’t be prudent to have these covered in dirt and exposed for all to see,” Anko said with a teasing smile, hefting up her ‘attributes’.
Yamato just palmed his face. “What did you do?” he asked, tiredly.
“Now why would you assume automatically it was something I did?” she replied, putting up an air of being affronted by the accusation.
“Because we know you, Anko,” Sarutobi responded, taking a moment to repack his pipe.
“Well, this time, it wasn’t me,” she responded, tossing the towel on a nearby chair and taking a seat. “This can all be laid out at Yamato’s feet.”
“Mine!?” cried the former ANBU.
“Did you or did you not tell me that today, after we had our missions and training sessions, that we should test them with Chakra Paper to find out primary affinities and possible secondary affinities?” she asked with a smirk.
“You had to get changed … because of Chakra Paper?” Yamato asked suspiciously.
Sarutobi leaned back in his seat, holding off relighting his pipe, as he sensed that a potential loss of control in the next few minutes coming. “Chakra Paper? This early?”
“I felt it best to make long-term plans for their training, in case of rare affinities,” Yamato replied.
Anko just smiled. She just wanted it because it would make their learning of kick-ass techniques easier, thus increasing their chances of not having D-Rank missions longer than necessary.
“The results?” Sarutobi asked, postponing the asking of his initial question of why he had also received that day, a request to have Team Nine repair their own apartment walls.
Yamato went first. “Saotome has a very strong wind affinity, with a slightly weaker secondary affinity for fire in his male form and water in his female form.”
Sarutobi pondered that for a moment. Granted, little was known about Saotome’s gender-changing bloodline, but for it to even be able to alter chakra affinities… Nodding his head and making sure to perhaps assign someone to look into that, he turned to the assistant instructor. “And the kunoichi?”
“Tendo is primarily water, but she does have a weak earth affinity for her secondary,” Anko replied.
A pity, too, as she would have loved to rub it into some people‘s faces that she was training another potential Wood User.
“And Kuramitsu?” Sarutobi asked.
“…” Here, Anko looked slightly nervous. “Well, funny thing about her…”
“Oh?”
“When I handed her the standard size piece of Chakra Paper, and she focused on it, it … well … it exploded.”
“…”
“You might need to assign someone to repair Training Ground Thirty-Four.”
“…” Sarutobi sighed, before finally lighting his pipe, and taking a long drag from it. “She created an explosion, damaging a training ground—”
“Severely damaging it, sir,” Anko continued. Given his current posture, she decided not to inform him what else said explosion had done.
“… She did all of that … just by putting her chakra into the test strip. This is what you are saying.”
Anko just nodded.
“… A regular piece of Chakra Paper?” Yamato asked.
“Want to have her try it again for you to witness?” Anko asked with a glare.
“No, I don’t believe we will,” Sarutobi replied dully, rubbing his forehead. With any other instructor, and any other student, that story would have sounded like complete bullshit.
He, however, was now debating if perhaps ‘Old One-Eye’ had somehow tricked him, making Mihoshi a Genin. Truly, he was starting to worry about the safety of the village with her in it. “Was that odd cube she carries around with her involved in this at all?” he asked.
“Nope,” Anko replied.
“So you had to bathe and change…” Yamato started.
Anko just nodded. That had been one of her favorite outfits, too.
“Oh, and before you worry,” Anko continued, “she’s still alive, somehow unharmed and unconscious, minus her clothes from being at the center of the explosion, but other than that, no serious injuries.”
The two males blinked at that. “Though I suppose given her lifestyle and ability to have such accidents, it would be foolish to assume she was not able to withstand such a blast,” Anko concluded.
On second thought, it could be a useful skill, she supposed. Send Mihoshi out with some Chakra Paper, into enemy encampments, and BOOM!
Why me? Sarutobi asked himself. What more, he knew Anko now had what could be a bad idea, as she was silently cackling. “Any other new tidbits before we move onto discussing team progression?”
Blinking for a moment at images of a new secret weapon of mass destruction to enemy ninja, she focused back onto the Hokage. “Ah, yes; Ms. Tendo wanted me to ask you about something…”
Sarutobi just sighed. Just when he had lit his pipe…
It was a familiar scene back at the Team Nine apartment. Once again, the tired jingling of keys, followed by the door opening, revealing a tired and dirty Ranma Saotome.
Only this one was dressed solely in his usual shoes, boxer shorts, and a T-shirt.
“Just drop them off in the furo and disperse,” he muttered, heading towards the kitchen counter t begin dinner. Was it really too much to ask? After surviving a grocery run for a client that Anko turned into an obstacle course/live ordinance training exercise, followed by having to explain to Yamato-sensei just how the apartment wall had been repaired while they were gone...
Oh, like he was that stupid, especially in this neighborhood! He had left two Kage Bunshin behind, who ‘borrowed’ some lumber from another site their landlord owned and was repairing.
But on the bright side, the lumber and supplies Yamato-sensei had procured would come in handy for tomorrow’s repairs.
He doubted the wake-up call would be any gentler tomorrow, like just knocking on a door.
Well, after that uncomfortable talk; they had moved on to training, sparring, and finally chakra affinity testing! Now that was the stuff he truly enjoyed!
Okay, perhaps he was a little upset at first that he had insisted Ranma take the tests in both forms. But learning he might one day be able to easily control water chakra…
Oh, not that he planned to use it against certain rivals, none at all. If his attacks just happened to trigger Jusenkyo curses or wash them away, it certainly wasn’t his intent…
Oh, but just before his day ended, before he decided to come home, he was accosted by his other instructor, who dropped his dirt and cut covered teammates on him. As he stood up, noticing that Mihoshi was completely nude, Nabiki was missing her bottoms, and wondering what the hell kind of training did that, he found his face pulled between Anko’s breasts—her top and most of her clothes missing as well—squealing like…
Well, he didn’t know what it was, but it scared him, it really did.
Taking a calming breath as she performed a Shunshin no Jutsu, he looked down as his unconscious teammates. “Only to me, could this happen,” he muttered then, as he did a quick medical checkup—he hadn’t spent much time on those techniques except for the ones that were suggested to be useful in a battle. Giving Nabiki his pants, thankful his silk shirt covered most of Mihoshi, depending on how she was held; he summoned two Kage Bunshin and returned home.
Setting several pots on the stove, he let out a sigh of relief.
One day done, hopefully not to be repeated tomorrow.
“Hey, Ranma!” came Naruto’s voice and figure through the open door. “Ramen tonight?”
Ranma’s head bowed in resignation. “Please let it not be the same tomorrow.” But somehow, he doubted the Gods would hear his pleas.
