Mischief Fragment - Replay: Power Player [Episode 234068]

by Kestral

"Let's see... Sorcery," said Toltiir. "Sourcery. Saucery. Swordcery? Nah. But he really needs something better than that, doesn't he?"

Spells/Level:
4/1, 3/2, 2/3, 1/4

"I mean, sure, if he's going to be chasing cats and painting fences - that's enough," admitted Toltiir. "But facing Zabuza a few months after some weed-pulling missions? The Chunin Exams before they've been genin a year? Then the Sasuke Retrieval Arc? Seriously, facing jonin-level opponents that soon?"

The cat-being considered the various timelines where Naruto didn't have any Plot Armor. Heck, there were timelines where Naruto died before they even got out of the D-Ranks! Here he got dragged into a minefield by a dog, and got himself and the dog blown up!

No. How about sticking him with those limits as far as spells were concerned to begin with, but then giving him a different take on things?

Currently available spells:
Light, Prestidigitation, Magic Missile, Sleep
Expeditious Retreat, Feather Fall, Shield
Icy Rays, Shock Sphere
Stone Shield

How to change that up?

Maybe if he used a different set of planes to draw the spells from? That could be interesting. What if he went with...

Level 1 - Fire: Orb Of Light, Wind: Remote Hand, Earth: Finder Stone, Water: Purify, Spirit: Calm.
Level 2 - Fire: Flame Dart, Wind: Air Bubble, Earth: Stone Shield, Water: Water Jet, Spirit: Tranquility (Mass Calm.)
Level 3 - Fire: Flame Jet, Wind: Zephyr Shield, Earth: Liquid Earth, Water: Skate, Spirit: Rally
Level 4 - Fire: Explosive Bolt, Wind: Windwalk, Earth: Rampart, Water: Water Breathing, Spirit: Soul Dive

The cat elongated his tail as he considered that. That particular universe seemed to work okay, but he wasn't sure the same system imported well into Naruto's ninja-land.

Maybe... that universe.

Spells of the First Circle:
Enchantment: Torch Glow, Divination: Pathfinder, Summoning: Simple Object, Transformation: Heat/Chill
Spells of the Second Circle:
Enchantment: Minor Enhancement, Divination: Seer's Orb, Summoning: Native Creatures, Transformation: Hard/Soft
Spells of the Third Circle:
Enchantment: Enhance Object, Divination: Visions of the Past, Summoning: Minor Outsider, Transformation: Brittle/Reinforce
Spells of the Fourth Circle:
Enchantment: Enhance Ally, Divination: Far Vision, Summoning: Contracted Ally, Transformation: Shapeshift.

No, that grouping lacked something. Though admittedly the magic of that world was more in enhancing what one had then the flashy sort of thing that tended to dominate the ninjutsu crowd.

The spells of the world known as Testament? No. TOO flashy. And likely to end things quickly.

Perhaps the Runic System?

The True Rune of Wind would be interesting, but it would lock Naruto at whatever age he gained it. No, that wasn't any fun.

Magic Point system maybe? If one used the chakra from the Kyubi, it would be nearly infinite mana - whereas Uzumaki chakra levels would merely be 'staggeringly huge' or something by local standards.

Well, the chakra system was already a magic point sort of thing. So it wouldn't require a lot of work.

So what if he went with a decent set of specific spells, setting up a brief time-compression with a "dimensional displacement mishap" and then see what would happen?

Backtrack, set everything to "canon" to isolate all the other influences and see what developed, then - ENERGIZE!

Oh. That was odd. He'd only meant to get Naruto. Someone else had been physically close enough that the grab had included them.

Ah, what the Hel. Close enough, as long as the outcome was amusing.

Looked like it would be Naruto and:
