Demon Japan: Seeking Victory [Episode 235522]

by Kender

If what she was seeing was supposed to generate fear from 'Kyoko', or rather what was wearing her face, the sight of a boy and his pet monster wasn't going to do it. Why, she had come to this world with an utter disdain for its inhabitants, and so had no respect for their abilities. Their powers and technology were so feeble as to be worthless in her eyes. For her, these beings were nothing more than cattle whose only purpose was to serve as fodder for whatever use or desire her kind could get out of them.

And that went for their little pets as well.

"Do you really think that something so pathetic will really be able to save you? Let me show how wrong you really are," she sneered in mock caring... and then raced forward, raising a hand for an obvious slash.

Eyes widening, the boy in the goggles nearly jumped. "Guilmon!"

He didn't need to say anything, as the growling dinosaur had already moved. The red lizard like being charged forward, but didn't gallop like one might have expected. Instead, he leaned forward and darted across the ground like a bolt of lightning. Any human would have had trouble following him, and even the creature that had been pretending to be the human scientist had to blink.

Aware that something odd was going on, Kyoko decided to shift the direction of her attack. Getting rid of the humans' 'dog' seemed to be a good idea, and she went directly to swat it down. After all, it didn't seem like this thing was all that bright to begin with.

Of course, that was not something that Guilmon seemed to be all that willing to give her time to do. "Rock Breaker!"

Getting hit by the smack from the dinosaur beast hurt, and the mockery that had taken over Doctor Sohryu Zeppelin winced as she crashed down to, and tumbled along the ground. The strike numbed the side it had hit, and she had to work the arm a bit to try to get feeling back into it. But then she wasn't about to let such an insult go by unheeded.

Skittering back up, she hunched over herself and narrowed her eyes, taking a hard look at her opponent. As much it galled her to have to admit it, in this case, she wouldn't be able to dismiss the low level beast before moving on. With a hiss of anger, she sped forward, hitting hard and fast so as to knock down the lizard before it could defend itself. Knocking it down was immensely satisfying, and she savored the longer reach that she had. Lifting one hand, she spread her fingers so that her claws could do the greatest damage to this pitiful pet.

Yet, it wasn't showing any signs of giving it. Rather than showing fear, the shrinking of its pupils seemed to radiate its own anger, and as it growled, it didn't show any sort of anger. What it did show was that it was baring its own teeth as it opened its mouth nice and wide. This didn't seem to be an attempt to bite, but it was beginning to be a prelude to something much different.

And as the start of a glow deep in Guilmon's throat began to make it clear that there was a fireball about to be fired, all that Kyoko could do was choke down her shock as there was no time to block the blast.

The official stood in the back of the operations center and crossed his arms over his chest as he watched over the proceedings. "It seems to be going forward well enough."

"At least for now," commented the agent next to him.

"True enough. But this could help us greatly in the future."

"Other than knowing where the enemy comes from?"

"There is that, but there might be allies we can use over there," the official commented. "Not all of them are against humans, and there has even been mention of them being guardian 'daemons' rather than 'demons'."

"Thin line."

"I won't argue that. But at least there are likely to be those who won't have a real interest in us."

"Then why would they care about us?" the agent bit out.

"The chance to take on rivals that do cause us trouble."

"Ah...."

"Perhaps we can even get some to live side by side with us. Some of the technical types think that they could live human-style lives, and might even be able to breed with us," the official drawled, taking out a bit of gum and sticking it into his mouth. "At least, that is if the old stories are to believed."

The agent seemed to be somewhat more skeptical, but neither one said anything as they went back to watching as the crew went back to watching the transmission being sent back over from the 'other side', while:
