"Alright Mom, give me everything you've got!" Ranma yelled out to Yoruichi who was currently standing on a tree limb. The mother son duo were currently in one of the monsoon jungles of southern India on an extended training trip. Said trip was scheduled to end whenever the humans decided to stop WWII. Hopefully, a better government would come to power back in Japan otherwise the duo would probably emigrate to another nation.
Yoruichi simply grinned at her 50 year old child who physically looked like a 10 year old boy. Since Ranma was a spirit, his aging slowed down to the equivalent of 1 year per decade when he was five and would slow down a great deal more when he fully matured. Yoruichi called out, "I'll go easy on you son. You're a thousand years too young to handle me in top form!" She then used a simple Shunpo to cross the distance between them and give Ranma a ferocious kick to the head.
Luckily for the young Shihoin, Ranma had gotten good enough to observe his mother when she limited herself to that speed. He quickly grabbed Yoruichi's leg and then whipped himself around so that he could use her momentum to throw her to the ground. Yoruichi recovered almost immediately by using the throw to go into a handstand and kicking Ranma with her other foot. The younger Shihoin promptly went flying into a tree and almost broke it in half.
Ranma quickly recovered from hitting the tree and used shunpo several times in an attempt to confuse his mother before moving in for the strike. Yoruichi promptly grabbed her son and pinned him to the dirt. "Remember son, if your opponent is faster than you or can see as fast as you can move that using shunpo to confuse won't work. All it does to you in this situation is make you look foolish and waste your energy. However, it is a good strategy against a much slower opponent."
With his face still in the dirt Ranma called out, "One day Mom! I promise you that I'll make you eat dirt with that move one day."
Yoruichi grinned and replied, "I don't doubt it son. However, that day is not today and it won't be for at least a decade. Don't forget, I have far more power and experience than those old masters your previous incarnation fought against."
Ranma blushed slightly and nodded his head in understanding. His mother had heavily suspected that he was a reincarnation before he was born as most Soul Society residents tended to give birth to reincarnated souls. The only odd births were those who either gave birth to brand new souls or those where a person was able to remember bits of their past life. Yoruichi had found out about Ranma Saotome from Ranma Shihoin shortly after he learned to talk. Keeping secrets is very hard to do when your mother sleeps near you and you talk in your sleep.
The older Shihoin helped her son get off of the ground and then glanced over at an pendent hanging on a nearby tree. Yoruichi then put her hand on her hip and sighed. "We've got five minutes before the reiryoku masking barrier has to power down. Looks like its back to the gigais for us."
A pout appeared on Ranma's face and the little boy huffed. "Rats, I hate wearing that stupid gigai. It's so constricting and I always feel so slow in it."
"Quit your complaining son, the gigai isn't suppose to be enjoyable, its suppose to protect and hide us. Just be glad that I could created a gigai for you on my own. If I didn't I'd either have to reveal you to Kisuke or have Soul Society track you. While I don't mind the idea of my old friend knowing about you, I don't want to have to explain how I got pregnant with you when I don't even know that myself. As for Soul Society, Central 46 would either order you to be taken from me in order to be 'properly raised as a member of the Four Noble Houses' or they'd order your execution because of your power and effectively rogue status. Now get your butt in the gigai before I throw you in it and then dump you next to the village well when the maidens come to draw water!"
Ranma paled in fright at his mother's threat. Why the hell was it that at least several girls would become obsessed with him whenever the duo went into a village? Furthermore, why was it always the craziest girls that seemed to come after him? Without another moment's hesitation, Ranma walked over to his gigai and entered it. Yoruichi did the same and to anyone who might have observed the gigais it looked like the duo were waking up from a long nap.
