Kukaku Shiba spotted her idiot brother Ganju playing poker with a couple of her assistants. Without warning, Kukaku pulled her fist back and let Ganju have it. "MORON! Why the hell aren't you making sure that the barrier is working?!"
Ganju started crying like a baby. "But Sis I already-"
The younger Shiba sibling was cut off by his sister's fist in his face. Kukaku huffed and then picked her brother up off the ground. "Look Ganju, you are to stand by the barrier and make sure that it doesn't drop for a second until AFTER Yoruichi gives birth. If that barrier comes down then Seireitei will be able to track Yoruichi's reiatsu since she can't keep it suppressed while giving birth. Do you want the Onmitsukido swarming all over this place because they found out that Yoruichi was here?"
Ganju quickly shook his head to signify that he didn't want the Onmitsukido to come to the Shiba compound. Kukaku sent her brother one more glare for good measure and then went into the compound. She then headed to the dojo which had been turned into a makeshift maternity ward.
In the center of the room was Yoruichi who was lying on a futon with several doctors around her. Kukaku picked up a saki jug and walked over to her friend. "Hey Yoruichi, how are you doing?"
Yoruichi glared at her friend in between bracing herself for contractions. "I'm trying to push out a watermelon through a small hole. How the hell do you think I'm doing Kukaku! It doesn't help at all that this child apparently doesn't want to come out."
Kukaku had a quick chug of saki and then grinned. "Oh be a big girl Yoruichi. You've fought hundreds of Hollows and have had to be patched up dozens of times. Don't tell me that a little thing like your baby is causing you so much trouble."
The self-exiled captain sent a withering glare at her friend. "Don't patronize me Kukaku. You've no right to talk until you've given birth yourself!" Yoruichi then had to bite her lip from the pain of another contraction.
It took another hour for Yoruichi's child to be born. One of the medics grabbed the child soon as he was out and rinsed the boy off. The medic then wrapped the child in a swaddling blanket that bore the Shihoin crest. Kukaku then grabbed the bundled baby and handed him to her friend. "Hey Yoruichi, looks like you've got yourself a son. Do you have a name picked out for the brat?"
Yoruichi quickly took her son from Kukaku and held him tightly to her chest. "Ranma," Yoruichi gently muttered to herself and the babe. "Your name shall be Ranma Shihoin, my prescious wild stallion"
