In fact, it was likely to descend upon a single day as the recovery plus existing missions plus the day before the exams had events taking up even more time.
Which was all a set of limiting factors, but when everything was settled into place there was a single cruxpoint where things could be shifted with minimal stability work.
That would have to be it. Now how best to do it.
Mission desk. A D-Rank Mission. Now which to do?
The Uzumaki Mask Shrine could use cleaning. That could certainly be used to set all sorts of things off.
In fact, that was something that could easily be expanded upon. It wouldn't take much to nudge the world-rules to allow Divine Magic in addition to all the chakra stuff as they already had spiritual energy. Also an invocation for a shikigami and that Jashin fellow already were in-universe. Once that little tweak was done, there was a pantheon or two looking for other investments to make. Why, there were three deities he could think of off the top of his head who'd like a chance at getting off the whole 'floating rotting carcass in the Astral Plane' fate and into some sort of other role.
Or the masks could carry something other than the whole "choose the wrong mask and die painfully" thing - that really was way overdone and unfunny wasn't it? A true-sight mask, or a mask that changed the face underneath to match, or a mask that contained the spirit of an ancient warrior for examples. Juubei Yagyu, Hattori Hanzo, Tomoe Gozen, Lancelot, Gilgamesh - there were so many possibilities there to explore!
Another place to put the mission was another building in disrepair. In fact, the entire Uchiha district had buildings falling apart. It being a ninja village, having little secret compartments and passageways and such was hardly worth even a raised eyebrow. A single scroll, a magic item, or a set of either could shift things significantly.
Due to the time constraints - it had to be a D-Rank mission, therefore something contained within the village, but that still allowed for a certain degree of play.
Why look at this mission. One of the "red light district" establishments typically hired one of the older genin teams to run security. The most one had to usually worry about was a drunk civilian getting too loud or rowdy. With Team 7 working that particular venue - how badly could things go wrong?
Hmmm. There was a C-Rank available, basically going through and prepping the Forest of Death ahead of the Second Test of the Chunin Exams. That could certainly throw things off the tracks even if all three managed to come out without injury. That mission had gone to one of the Konoha teams eliminated during the First Test, so any advantage had quickly been lost.
Working in a weaponmaking forge was another possibility. There being a need for extra kunai and shuriken and other supplies predicted due to the same exams. Easy enough to backtrack in a little something special just lying in a corner gathering dust until someone stumbled across it.
