Jiraiya rocked back and forth on his geta, considering his response before the assembled clan heads, Hokage, advisors, and 'interested parties' who'd managed to finagle their attendance. Actually, he didn't have too much problem with the extra people showing up, as Naruto's progress simply made his teacher that much more impressive.
"Jiraiya?" prompted Homura.
"Naruto's massive destruction technique was the result of his inexpert mixing of the Fire and Lightning chakra," said Jiraiya. "Adding Wind to that, which is actually his primary element, stabilized the whole thing but required a bit of work on his control. By the way, if I ever find out who was sabotaging his progress in the Academy, I'm going to have to have a 'discussion' with them about that."
Each and every attendant heard the quote marks around "discussion" and had no problem interpreting that.
"I'd originally put down the term 'Plasma' for the fusion of Fire and Lightning," said Jiraiya. "Since then, a discussion with Iruka Umino has had me correct that a bit. It's a moot point since now he's doing the stabilized form. Force."
"'Force'?" asked the Aburame clan head.
Jiraiya nodded. "His primary technique now is Barrier - where he creates a dome of white light that repels attacks. With sufficient force, one can break through it - and he's immobile while maintaining it - but it requires a LOT of power to get through it."
"How much power?" asked the Hokage.
"Anything less than Sage mode or Hokage level techniques aren't getting through it," said Jiraiya. "If the village is ever under attack, I'd recommend having Naruto shield civilians or VIPs. The dome itself is variable in size - anywhere from two to six meters across. He can maintain it for about fifteen minutes before he exhausts his reserves. Part of his problem with that is the strain of concentrating on a single thing and holding it stable. I expect that to improve, but fifteen minutes or so at best now."
There was some stirring at that, the vast majority of those present having been involved in the last ninja war and understanding how mind-bogglingly useful fifteen minutes of near-absolute protection could be.
"Naruto can also throw force projectiles, which basically hit with a hammer blow, in a line of sight," added Jiraiya. "His control and aim need a lot of work still."
"Then it's still your plan to take him from the village for advanced training?" asked Homura, frowning pretty heavily.
"Yeah, though probably at this stage no more than six months," said Jiraiya. "Naruto's sufficiently young yet that I can undo some of the damage the Academy has done. I've already requested an additional pupil as well, since showing off in front of 'his princess' has caused him to advance even faster. She seems to benefit from the arrangement as well."
"'Princess'?" asked Koharu, sneer already on her lips.
"Hinata Hyuga," said Jiraiya, shrugging.
