One Piece 1/2: Nabiki's Second Life (DARK) [Episode 238245]

by shadowlord88

Anyone who knew Nabiki Tendo would tell you that she was not someone prone to panic. She always kept her cool and approached problems rationally. Of course, she was also used to never being caught up in any of the craziness that occurred in Nerima. She had grown accustomed to observing the chaos from the sidelines and never really being affected by it. The events of today, however, shattered the middle Tendo daughter's perception of her security.

Nabiki had been very skeptical of the supposed genie Ranma claimed to have found. The middle Tendo daughter just assumed that the scantily clad woman was a new fiancée or love interest who was after the pigtailed martial artist. She did not believe the woman was a real genie and did not think for a second that the silly wish she had made would actually be granted. As a result, she was quite shocked to find herself suddenly teleported out of her room in a flash of light.

Nabiki stared at her new surroundings in shock. There was no way what just happened could've possibly happened. Yet, the evidence before her eyes seemed undeniable. Somehow she had been transported out of her room and into the middle of the ocean on a small boat.

"Such a nice day, isn't it?" A voice asked to Nabiki's right. "By the looks of things, we're going to have nothing but clear skies for the rest of the afternoon."

Nabiki turned to face the person who spoke and stood agape at who she saw.

"This can't be real," Nabiki murmured, her eyes wide in disbelief. There was no way she could be standing next to Nami from One Piece.

"What are you talking about?" Nami asked. "What can't be real?"

Nabiki did not have time to even think of a reply as she was suddenly overcome with a massive headache. Suddenly, Nabiki found herself remembering things she had never done before.

"Are you feeling alright, sis?" Nami asked in concern as Nabiki clutched her head in pain.

"I-I am fine," Nabiki said as her headache subsided almost as quickly as it came. While the pain had faded, however, Nabiki was now even more confused than before. She had two entirely different sets of memories in her mind detailing two entirely different lives. She knew she had just been teleported into a manga and yet she could vividly recall an entire life separate from her home and family in Nerima. An entire life spent in the world of this manga.

Nabiki could remember growing up with her adoptive sisters, Nami and Nojiko, under the ever watchful gaze of their adoptive mother, Bellemere. She remembered playing in the streets of Cocoyashi Village with her other sisters when they were little. She remembered how her sisters and her always helped Bellemere tend to her tangerine grove. She remembered the taste of the wonderful food Bellemere would cook. She could remember helping Nami steal books from the local bookstore whenever they didn't have enough money to buy anything and the joint scolding they would get from Genzo whenever they were caught. She could completely recall an entire childhood filled with happy memories of growing up with characters she knew were only supposed to exist in the pages of a manga. Of course, not all her new memories were pleasant.

Nabiki could remember the day Arlong and his crew came to Cocoyashi Village. She remembered hiding in the woods with her sisters while the pirates demanded money from the other villagers in exchange for their lives. She remembered the terror that seized her when she realized the fishmen had spotted Bellemere's house on the outskirts of town, knowing there was no way Bellemere had enough saved up to pay for all of them. She recalled the brief moment of hope that they all might make it through when Genzo tried to trick Arlong into believing Bellemere lived alone, so she could afford to pay off the pirates. Her hope, sadly, was shattered when Bellemere declared she would use all of her money to pay for her three daughters, saying she could not bring herself to deny having them.

Nabiki had experienced the death of a mother before, but she had been only four years old when Kimiko Tendo passed on and her memory of the event had faded with time. In this world, she had been ten when Bellemere was murdered before her eyes and she could remember it vividly. She could remember the crack of Arlong's gun, the spray of blood and the screams of her sisters and herself as they watched the woman who had raised them fall to the ground, shot dead by the grinning pirate captain.

Nabiki was normally very good at controlling her emotions, never letting anyone see how she felt. However, between being transported into a manga and having a whole lives worth of memories flood her mind, the memories of seeing Bellemere killed and the fact part of her mind considered Bellemere as her mother caught Nabiki totally off guard.

"W-What are you doing?!" Nami yelped in surprise as her sister suddenly pulled her into a hug, clinging to her like something terrible had just happened. "Is something wrong?"

"N-Nothing is wrong," Nabiki said as she suddenly ended the hug. What was she doing? She knew these memories could not possible be real. She knew she had just been transported here and that she had grown up in Nerima with her family, not in Cocoyashi Village and certainly not with fictional characters. The only possible explanation was that the new memories she had were created by that genie, in order to make her fit into the world of One Piece. Still, the memories seemed so real.

"If nothing's wrong, why are you acting so weird?" Nami demanded.

"I am sorry, sis," Nabiki said, trying to put Nami at ease. "I have no idea what came over me."

The best thing Nabiki could think to do for now was to go along with things. She doubted Nami or anyone else would take her story of being sent here by a genie seriously. She could only hope to eventually find Ranma and figure out a way to get back home.

Nami was completely baffled by her sisters sudden and strange behavior, but she didn't know what to do. In any case, Nabiki seemed to be acting normally now, so she decided to let it go.

"Well, if you're done acting strange, we should start planning for when we reach Orange Town. If the rumors we heard are true, the Buggy Pirates have taken over the town. If we are lucky, they might still be there and we can make off with their treasure."

"I assume you already have a plan in mind?"

"Well, of course."

As Nami began to explain her plan, Nabiki silently hoped that she would find Ranma in Orange Town. Even though Luffy was able to defeat Buggy easily in the manga, Nabiki knew the red nosed pirate captain was more than strong enough to kill her effortlessly. Also, the villains were only going to get stronger and she knew she would have a hard time staying out of the line of fire if she followed Nami and the other main characters. Understandably, she wanted to find Ranma and find a way back home as soon as possible.
