Right you are, dear reader. However, to answer that question, we must go back to the time of Bone's conception....
On their wedding night...sometime after Lina and Gourry consummated their marriage in a room at a cozy little roadside inn, something strange and wonderful happened inside Lina's body....
About a day earlier, one of Lina's ovaries released a highly unusual unfertilized egg. This particular ovum literaly crackled with chaotic, thaumaturgical energy--surrounded by dozens of microscopic jagged bolts of white lightning thar arced over its surface....
As the ovum passed through Lina's Fallopian tube, it encountered a lone spermatozoon swimming slowly and steadily toward it. It was one of a half trillion released by Gourry into Lina at the penultimate moment of their shared, passionate love for each other some two hours earlier....
On the way to the ovum, this particular spermatozoon passed by some 200 others who weren't able to complete the journey. In addition to the X chromosome it carried, it also carried all of Gourry's knowledge of swordsmanship as well as genetic traits for keen intellect--an utterly amazing one in one-half trillion occurance!
In other words, dear reader, Gourry's daughter-to-be would be highly intelligent and not be a dullard as he was....
In the moment before fertilization, some of the 'lightning' touched the acrosome of the spermatozoon as it pierced the gelatinous membrane surrounding the ovum and methodically forced itself into the ovum. As a result, the magical energies reshaped some of the finer aspects of the genetic information contained in the core of the spermatozoon....
On the way to Lina's womb, the small zygote glowed like a tiny white-hot star for a moment--a harbinger of wondrous things to come--before the glow faded away and cellular division began in the zygote....
As Lina was now eating for two, she became even more of a pariah among those who own eating establishments open to the public at large....
Nine months passed by as the unborn child grew and developed within Lina's womb....
In a room at another roadside inn, with Gourry at her side and helped by the local midwife, Lina gave birth to her baby daughter after a long night of arduous, excrutiatingly painfully labor that, unbeknownst to her at the time, rendered her unable to conceive and bear any more children....
With eyes agog, the midwife recived the baby into her waiting hands as the child slid forth into world from Lina's womb. Even coated in amniotic fluid and wisps of blood, the midwife found the newborn girl's bone-white skin, piercing red eyes, and wisps of pure white hair on her head striking...and unsettling....
Swiftly, the midwife secured and cut the umbilical cord, held the child up before Lina and Gourry by the feet, and gave the baby girl a gentile swat on her bottom....
Lina and Gourry smiled and laughed for joy as their daughter cried heartily, announcing her presence to the world....
With the utmost care, the midwife cleaned the baby girl, wrapped her loosely in a clean white cloth and placed her in Lina's arms....
Seeing his wife admiring their newborn daughter, Gourry remarked: "Gee, Lina, our baby daughter is as white as that sheet she's wrapped in--like a ghost!"
Lina looked up and glared daggers at Gourry for a moment, then looked back down to admire her newborn daughter. "Welcome to the land of the living, my little Dragon Spooker." she doted happily with a smile, still exhausted and sweaty from the rigors of childbirth.
"Pardon me for asking, but what name will you give your newborn daughter?" asked the midwife as she waiting for Lina to expel the afterbirth so it could be discarded.
"Lianna," replied Lina after a moment's thought, giving the midwife a serious, focused look. "Her name shall be Lianna Inverse-Gabriev." repeated Lina officiously....
