"Not now," Ranma said finally. "I don't want to get that lady any more angry at us."
"She said it would be all right if we kept quiet and didn't make a mess," Nabiki reminded her, a seed of hope in her head.
"I know, but," Ranma shuffled nervously. "I don't want to here."
"Well," Nabiki said. "That's your choice."
Inside she was practically sceaming in joy. True Ranma was operating mostly on not wanting to piss off their unwilling host, but still it was a step in the right direction. Ranma had said "no."
Maybe, if she kept it up, Ranma would be fine soon.

Becky nearly spit her coffee all the way across the room when Rally came in with her sisters and biological mother.
"Ra...Ra...Rally," Becky said nervously. "Do you know what those people are?"
"Were," Rally said forcefully. "They're free now, Becky, no tracking signals on them. No junk so that they could be re-enslaved."
"You have no idea what you've stepped into, Rally," Becky said.
"Probably more than you do," Rally said.
Indeed, there had been much discussion on the myths of the origin of the tattoo magic. Apparently it went back to a certain breed of dragons that had long ago left Earth for other realms. The dragons had taught the Atlanteans, and with them it stayed until they fell under the might of a demonic invasion from many hells.
The knowledge of tattoo magic was scattered to the four corners of the globe, and developed into the tools of enslavement. So the books Nabiki had taken from Kasumi indicated, though in a lot more words with a lot of reading between the lines required.
"This is my family, Becky," Rally said. "I want them taken care of."
"R...right," Becky said. "What do you need? Identification?"
"That would be good," Rally nodded. "But also a house, and my mother needs to tie up loose ends in Japan."
"Oh, so you ARE Asian," Becky said. "I always wondered." She was calming down now that she had a job to do.
"Be very careful about this Becky," Rally said.
"You don't have to tell me that, Rally," Becky said. "I know what kind of trouble I can get into with these freaks. The stuff in Japan will be difficult, but I'll see what I can do. As for the house, what kind of funds am I looking at?"
Nodoka discreetly told her and Becky started hearing cash register bells.
