"That door is the Insert Point," said Setsuna, pointing towards one end of the Arcade.
"I didn't know you played," said Minako, walking over to where Setsuna was playing a UFO Catcher or Crane Game. Then she saw what was in it. "Plushie Setsuna-chan?!"
"Individual roles within the setting," said Setsuna as she manuevered the crane around and then clicked the button.
"Oh?" asked Minako, walking over to an empty Crane Game, only to see it fill with various plushy-Minako as soon as she stopped next to the controls. There were samurai-Minako, black-clad Stealth Expert Minako, Dobe Minako, Gadgeteer Ninja Minako, a Minako that had an alert-looking plushy ninja-dog companion, and dozens of others.
Minako blinked at that, then went over to one of the "videogames" to see what THEY did.
Minako blinked at that, looked at the controls and then shifted the joystick to the side. Blocks of text flashed by on the screen. When she pressed the "X" key, the flashing stopped and she leaned forward to read the text now displayed on the screen.
"Uhm," said Rei. "How do I select this one?"
Minako gathered with several of the other Senshi to look at the console Rei was looking over.
"That's pretty good," admitted Minako, going back to her own console and flipping through.
"Okay, it's locked," said Rei, having discovered that hitting the triangle key brought up a prompt asking if she wanted to lock it. "Then you just walk through the door..."
The moment Rei passed through, she was gone.
Minako flipped through various origins, finally deciding she found one that she liked, then did the same.
"There's something odd," said Setsuna.
"Really? Just one thing?"
"Usagi is Naruto's sister?" asked Setsuna.
"Easiest way to handle that they are essentially Analogues of each other," said the Elder Being. "Look at all their similarities, put aside how their environment shaped them, and look clearly."
"That's frightening," said Setsuna.
"Maybe. It just makes it easier if I make them related."
"So what about myself?" asked Setsuna.
"This is the background I came up with for you," said the cat as a wooden duck descended from the darkness above her with a manilla envelope in its beak.
"Why a duck?" asked Setsuna, before shaking her head. "Never mind. Not important. Let's see. Hmmm. So I start out in their past and attain jonin rank? Interesting. And I'm a staff expert with several jutsu related to time and space movement?"
"Basically a genjutsu or 'illusion' specialist. You alter your opponent's sense of time, but there are other uses for the power and you will also have the various basic ninjutsu - with the elements of Wind and Earth. At the time of the other Senshi graduating, you will have 152 D-Rank missions, 160 C-Rank, 200 B-Rank, 75 A-Rank, and 12 S-Rank. You'll get the memories of those as you enter the timeline."
"According to this, I've got a rank of 4 in Ninjutsu, 5 in Genjutsu, and 3.5 in Taijutsu," said Setsuna. "Do I have any friends?"
"You're drinking partners with Kurenai Yuhi and Anko Mitarashi," said Toltiir.
"Well, I hope they're relatively sane," said Setsuna.
