"Now THAT part I can endorse," agreed Michiru with some enthusiasm.
There was a brief silence between the two.
"Oh sweet ancestors," said Haruka, facepalming. "I'm a fangirl."
Michiru looked as if she were getting a headache. Or nauseated. "I just realized I was ogling that young man's backside."
"Which guy?" asked Haruka, looking around and spotting some guy walking along the street below. "Oh yeah. You can tell he works out... oh no."
"Haruka," said Michiru slowly and carefully. "Checking my memories of this timeline, and my own reactions, I've come to the conclusion that we're as boy-crazy here as Minako was in our original timeline."
"Well," said Haruka, distracted by the muscular lithe flexing of the boy and not thinking about how she was tempting fate. "At least we have better self-control and can avoid doing anything embarassing."
"Hmmmm," agreed Michiru absent-mindedly as she continued to ogle that same someone.
Below them, Neji Hyuga got this AWFUL chill down his back.
Age nine:
Soichiro Tomoe was respected among the ninja populace, particularly after so many ninja children were saved and the stories of his heroic efforts cleaning up the mess left behind by Orochimaru.
The civilian population was less sure about him, as details about what had happened were more sketchy. The overall impression of him among the civilians was that he was some sort of highly specialized doctor and a bit of a mad scientist. A fairly friendly, often absent-minded, afternoon tea-loving, mad scientist who pretty much doted on his daughter.
Hotaru Tomoe was cute, shy, and whose mother had reputedly been a Hyuga born without the Byakugan. She was very young but apparently had promise as a medic-nin in the future.
She was also the youngest of the forty survivors as she'd been less than a year old when she'd been kidnapped and experimented on. Quite a few civilians knew that much, as did a large number of the ninjas.
Less well known was that she was listed among the Fifteen. Fifteen of Orochimaru's experiments who showed signs of being a success.
Orochimaru had done this twice after all. When Orochimaru had first become a Missing-Nin he'd experimented on sixty children and there had been exactly one survivor. This latest base and experimentation had been seen as tweaking the Hokage's nose.
The Hokage went over the reports, raising an eyebrow at what he found there. "Ice Release?"
"Yes, Hokage-sama," reported an ANBU code-named Owl.
"Doctor Mizuno should be quite pleased," said the Hokage eventually. "I'd imagine there would be medical applications for such a talent."
"That brings the total to fifteen of those children who show signs of having artificial kekkei genkai," said Owl. "Of these, nine are of families that were sworn to serve the family Uzumaki prior to Whirlpool falling."
The Hokage's eye fell to the list of the odd collection of kekkei genkai. Some he'd heard of, some he had not.

"Not all of these abilities may have been added by Orochimaru," stated the Hokage. "Some of them, I think I recall, had some indication of these abilities in their lineage."
"If not, he still experimented on the child and that child has unusual abilities," stated Owl.
"Very well, is there anything else unusual about them?" asked the Hokage.
"Ino Yamanaka, Sakura Haruno, Michiru Kaioh, and Haruka Tenou - all form the basis of the Sasuke Uchiha Fan Club," said Owl.
"Well, that's not so unusual," said the Hokage. "Not at that age."
"Those are just the ones still in the Academy. There's another forty who are either civilian or who have dropped out of the Academy. They have membership cards, a newsletter, and Haruka has been using her speed jutsu to line up where she can get photographs of the Last Uchiha," said Owl.
"Okay," said the Hokage. "Anything else?"
"The Naruto Uzumaki fanclub has no membership card, is not an official fanclub, and no secret handshake," said Owl.
"Naruto has a fanclub?" asked the Hokage, perking up a bit.
"They appear to be taking it more seriously as a ninja club activity in that they keep it all secret," said Owl. "Hinata Hyuga, Rei Hino, Minako the Star, Ami Mizuno, and Makoto Kino are currently in that group. Though there is some overlap with that and the Mamoru Chiba fanclub."
"I see," said the Hokage. "Mamoru has a fanclub?"
"Sort of," said Owl. "Though sometimes with the Naruto and Mamoru fanclubs - they seem to spend a certain amount of time being very unhappy with their idol."
