Suddenly, the door to the restaurant slammed open. As the patrons turned to look, they found a pale looking older woman, looking to be in her early twenties/late teens. She was dressed casually, but both Kim and Ron recognized who she was.
As she walked towards their table, Ranma noticed the two heroes tense.
Still, she was unprepared for the girl to slide in next to her and nod to the blonde boy and redheaded girl. “Possible. Stoppable.”
“Shego,” Kim growled.
“Look, cut the attitude, alright? I thought I already apologized!”
“You shouldn’t have kidnapped and tried to seduce Ron!”
“Ladies, could we cut the volume a bit? We’re kind of getting an audience . . . “ Ron wilted at their glares, but both girls eventually sat back down.
After a beat of silence, Shego sighed, “Look, I need some help. Since Doctor Drakken started work on more humanitarian projects, the Guild is looking at cutting our memberships. Problem is, while he is looking at joining a research program that is willing to give him good benefits, I have nothing to fall back on. I DON’T want to lose my Dental! Any suggestions, Contract Boy?”
Kim growled again and was about to start arguing again, but Ron pulled her back, an odd grin on his face. “Why yes, yes I do. Tell me, Shego . . . what do you think about moving to Japan?”
The older girl blinked at this. “Well, my Japanese is pretty good, and I kind of like their food . . . why, do you know somebody who is hiring over there?”
“Actually, I was wondering if you’d consider moving up a rank or two.”
Shego immediately started to backpedal, “Whoa there, Stoppable! I’m looking for something with a little more free time involved! Heck, to be honest, if it weren’t for free medical and dental plan, I’d even consider going honest!”
Kim raised an eyebrow at this, “You, honest?”
“Hey, I could do it if I wanted to! I’ve actually always wanted to go into Engineering, but I had no money at the time, doing that Superhero shit Team Go had me doing was a full time gig with NO benefits at all, and to be honest, I have more fun working for Doctor D than saving a city!”
“And if this plan of mine actually gave you more free time, would you agree to it?”
Both Kim and Shego turned to Ron, who was starting to creep both girls out. “What do you mean, Stoppable?”
“Let’s say I had a client who was being dragged kicking and screaming into a Demon hunting family tradition. The client’s mother, back in her day, had signed on with the Guild to keep her skills up, but the Client already has enough trouble to deal with already, and would rather not deal with the Guild at all. The problem with this is that the Guild already has their eye on my client, and if I don’t come up with something soon, they will assign my Client a nemesis to deal with on her own, which would exponentially compound the trouble my client has to deal with on a daily basis.”
“This wouldn’t have to deal with that martial artist kid who killed some Demi-god class being over in Japan, would it?” At Ron’s shocked face, Shego snickered.
“How’d you guess?” Ranma asked.
“Come on, the entire monologue Stoppable gave had no gender-specific terms in it! Either he was trying to act mysteriously, which is SO not his thing, or he was referring to someone who has a gender problem. Plus, we are talking about Japan, and . . . “ Shego finally noticed the Japanese girl, who was still shifting around uncomfortably, “Shit . . . Saotome Ranma, I presume?” she said in passable Japanese.
“Yeah . . . Shego, I take it?” Ranma replied.
Ron cleared his throat and then, in Japanese, said, “Ranma here is looking for a way to keep this from interfering with the problems she has to deal with already. You are looking to keep your Benefits while cutting down on the diabolical planning or the evil mischief making. Considering how you both have similar . . . family issues, maybe you two can come up with a plan to . . . both benefit from this, so to speak.”
