After Aurieste left Ranma climbed out of the bath and began dressing himself, the mechanical movements of his normally graceful body a sign of deep inner turmoil uncommon to Ranma until only recently. Was what Aurieste said true? Was it just as dishonorable, perhaps even more dishonorable, to remain in the situation he had been in? He had never even stopped to consider it, always thinking that staying and suffering was the only way to retain his honor, but what exactly was the difference?
He growled in frustration as he finished dressing, throwing himself onto the bed he decided it was long past time to try and sort this mess out and here, in a place none of them could reach him, seemed a better chance then he could have hoped for.
His family honor was totally trashed. His father had so many warrants out for his minor, and not so minor, misdeeds that the paper work had probably been a leading cause in global deforestation for the last fifteen years.
Alright so throw out family honor and just consider personal honor. The longer he took to solve the mess his father had dropped into his lap the more damage his own personal honor took since he was effectively insulting all involved parties. That said he didn’t have any desire to end up with any of them, especially Akane. Not because he didn’t like her, but because he had no intention of being chained to a dojo, any dojo, until he was about 200. Kodachi was a non-issue, and by his own honor system Shampoo had never had a claim to begin with, though something might have to be done to pacify the Amazons....Ukyo, well Ukyo’s engagement had been fraudulent from the beginning, it wasn’t a matter of a an honorable engagement so much as a dishonorable theft. While Ukyo was unlikely to like it, a repayment with high interest of the ‘dowry’ would suffice as far as his honor was considered...let his farther deal with the stigma of the theft and fake agreement.
It was with dawning hope that he realized he might actually be able to get out of the tangle he was in....then he remembered where he was. With a great sigh he looked seriously at the curtains and told them, “Of course this is all pointless until I can get home.”
