"What the hell just happened?!" Rei couldn't contain herself any longer. Ami, calming somewhat at her friend's outburst, returned her attention to the computer that had miraculously remained on her lap.
Her eyebrows shot up to her hairline as she saw what was displayed on the screen. She whistled, a mannerism the wish had passed along.
"Some kind of focused energy surge, kind of like when Usagi uses the Ginzuishou, but..." she shook her head in disbelief.
"But what?" Rei demanded impatiently.
Ami looked up and met the raven haired girl's gaze. "Whatever it was, it's output was several orders of magnitude greater than any recorded use of the crystal."
Usagi, typically, wasn't following. "Huh?"
The senshi of Mercury rolled her eyes. "It was colossal. Off the charts. Very, very big."
The princess blinked. "How big?"
"Big enough to make the Ginzuishou look like, well, Chibi."
Eyes widened. "We aren't going to have to fight whoever did this, are we?" asked a concerned Minako.
Ami shrugged. "No."
Blink blink. "How can you be so sure?"
Ami smirked cynically. "If we do go up against whoever is capable of doing something like that, it won't be a fight. I think the phrase is 'curb stomp battle'."
"Heh heh. Toes crossed then?"
Ami raised an eyebrow Venus' mangling of yet another phrase, this time oddly appropriate. "Might not be a bad idea." She stood and headed for the door.
"Where are you going, Ami?"
She half-turned and looked back at the brunette. "Whatever happened, downloaded a bit of fighting skill." She paused, considering. "Want to spar a bit?"
Normally, Makoto might have been a little more disbeliving - the senshi's bookworm skilled in martial arts? - but she was a fighter herself, and she could see the change in her friend's movement and physique.
"Sure. You guys coming?"
Twenty minutes later, the Inners were staring at Ami in unconcealed shock. Ami, shy little book-smart Ami, had just danced circles around Makoto, long considered the best hand-to-hand figher of the senshi. And she was barely even breathing any harder!
"'A bit of fighting skill' my ass," complained Jupiter from where she was sitting on said portion of anatomy, gasping for breath. "You could probably teach me. Hell, you could probably run a dojo..." she trailed off as her friend got a contemplative look on her face that somehow sent shivers down her spine.
Simultaneously, the rest of the senshi felt a similar chill. Rei glared at Makoto, Usagi whimpered and Minako wondered if she had trampled over someone's grave recently.
