The wish was fairly straightforward, despite Ranma's awkward wording. With a helpful goddess like Belldandy granting it, there shouldn't have been a problem.
However, as the residents of Nerima knew, chaos flocked to Ranma Saotome like moths to a flame. He was a living embodiment of Murphy's Law. And when something as powerful as a goddess channeled wish was involved, the results were bound to be spectacular.
In this case, the problem was two-fold. Ranma had specified Ami Mizuno, the "cram-ace Akane was talking about", but not by name, instead referring to her alias, "Mercury".
Therefore, the only being that specified both parameters of the wish was Mercury: Senshi, scholar and past incarnation of Ami Mizuno. So that was what he got - the memories of Sailor Mercury, guardian of the Silver Millenium, in their entirety.
As it turned out, it was fortunate that Belldandy had 'upgraded' Ranma's brain, or the overload of several centuries worth of memories being crammed into his head probably would have killed him, or at least sent him into a long term coma.
Even so, it had still been too much for Ranma, and he'd collapsed. He'd be out of it for quite a while, and he'd have a migrane the size of Olympus Mons when he woke up.
Ami fared somewhat better, only having recieved a decade and a half or so, and having the experience of dealing with her Silver Millenium memories.
Nevertheless, she was thrown by just how much sharper her perception was. As a top tier martial artist, Ranma's senses were sharpened to the point of being super-human, and that wasn't even taking into account his ability to sense ki and his instinctive 'danger-sense', both of which Ami now had at her disposal.
Or would, once she got over the disorientation. Despite - and partially because of - her impressive intellect, she was suffering from information overload.
Cringing, she clenched her eyes shut tight and clamped her hands over her eyes, shutting off those two senses. Even then, she could still feel the others in the room with her, and their concern and curiosity. There was someone else too, tugging at the edge of her awareness, but she ignored it in favour of trying to make the world stop spinning.
Fortunately, the process was mostly instinctive, and she adjusted quickly. Her breathing evened out and she dropped her hands, though her eyes remained shut as she examined the sensory input she was recieving.
She felt... powerful. In the past, she'd always been the weakest of the senshi while untransformed bar Hotaru, due to her relative lack of physical exercise. Now, she knew she could take on both Haruka and Makoto without breaking a sweat.
Whatever else he was, Ranma Saotome was a prodigy of the highest order in the martial arts, and now Ami Mizuno had his skill and abilities at her command.
"Ami? Are you alright?"
The bluenette opened her eyes to see the faces of her friends, curiosity and concern on their faces (though she noted Usagi was looking a little jealous).
Ami smiled. Some of Ranma's confidence had bled over, and it was no longer the timid, shy smile of the old Ami. She was aware of that she had changed, but she didn't really mind. She had never felt so alive.
"Don't worry guys," she said, still riding the high somewhat. "I'm fine."
