He was the prankster, the loudmouth, the fool. It was better than being ignored, shunned. Even though he wasn't attacked or anything, he caught the glares and the hatred directed his way.
Now he'd just seen what he'd wanted to ignore. Thanks to this dragon, he'd experienced firsthand what Sakura felt about him. She didn't even really consider him worth her hate. It was more contempt than anything else. She considered him worthless and annoying. She'd (momentarily at least) wanted him to die just so she could spend more time alone with Sasuke.
His stomach hurt.
"I... wish I had a girlfriend," muttered Naruto. It wasn't fair! All the girls were Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke! Okay, he was twelve and too young to have a girlfriend like THAT, but it would have been nice to have SOMEONE who liked him the way Sakura liked Sasuke.
Naruto's head dipped down as he realized he'd just admitted to himself the awful truth. While he liked Sakura, Sakura didn't like him, and she DID like Sasuke.
Meanwhile the dragon (Toltiir having shaped an identity as an aspect as a dragon over four kilometers long) considered the wish that Naruto had just made and how to grant it.
"Very well," said the dragon. "Let's see. What do you want in a girlfriend?"
"Eh?" asked Naruto, still mostly distracted. "Can she be cute?"
There was a sound as if metal parts had just come together, and then locked into place.
"Cute? What else?"
"Uhm," Naruto tried to think about it now that the danger of being eaten seemed to have receded a bit.
