Better. Chinese dragons weren't supposed to have wings.
He was a horned dragon, a young one. Five clawed, horned, rainbow colored. Toltiir saw no reason for the dragon to be deaf, so didn't add that particular feature. Besides, some stories had dragons as being fond of music and how could they be fond of music if they couldn't hear it? Body conduction only counted for so much after all.
After all, he wasn't just deciding on Naruto's new form. He was designing the start of a species.
No, Naruto's new natural form was that of a serpentine dragon that could stretch out at fifteen feet. Flight was possible, and in fact would be the preferred means of getting around in that form. Once some practice had been accomplished, Naruto would be a skilled and agile flier. Once he got the hang of it, he'd also be able to pull off some attacks suitable to a dragon of his pedigree.
Tough, fast, strong, able to fly and shapeshift. Looked quite a bit like that Haku from one of those "Spirited Away" timelines if you got past the coloration.
Longevity and healing factor, both pretty much required. After some internal debate, using shadow clones and an ersatz version of an 1800s British courtroom, plus sock puppets, Toltiir went with the species having a very strong healing factor that could eventually replace limbs - but would require decades to do so. Longevity was another thing. After consideration, he put the average lifespan to be a nice round number of one million years. As far as he knew, it hadn't been done before so it was a good time to put one in.
The breath weapon was a difficult choice. Stellar fire was a possibility, but storms or just a torrent of water were also good possibilities.
Decisions, decisions. Well, it could wait. Wasn't it in-genre for a shonen hero-type to discover these things when they were really hard-pressed, back-against-the-wall, in mortal danger and somesuch?
Hmmm, celestial dragon should have a Celestial marker right? Element set up. Diet should be...
That would work.
Naruto made a fist and hit a boulder, with his team looking on.
Kakashi was skeptical but watching anyway because this WAS the number one unpredictable ninja.
Sasuke was watching, openly scornful but actually hoping on some level that Naruto was right and he HAD unlocked a kekkei genkai. It would elevate Naruto from The Load to perhaps being his Lancer.
Sakura was watching - Sasuke. Because there was no way that Naruto was going to do anything impressive.
There was an impressively loud crack. The twenty-ton boulder shattered into so much stony shrapnel.
Kakashi pushed his headband up to look with his Sharingan as SOMETHING had happened. It hadn't just been raw strength though, had it? Some of those fracture lines looked as if they'd been cut.
Sasuke's jaw dropped for just a moment before he recovered and settled for a slight eyebrow raise. With Naruto having impressive strength, that meant that the dead-last could now handle the parts of assignments that required strength on his own. Leaving the finesse portion to himself, of course.
Sakura's head had whipped around at that sound and was now staring wide-eyed and open-mouthed at the former-boulder and now little pieces of rubble. Naruto had a kekkei genkai?! The world was coming to an end! Or she was in a genjutsu? "Kai!"
