Hair tied securely out of the way in her customary double-bun arrangement? Yes.
Cleaned version of her usual lantern pants and sleeveless top? Check.
Kunai sharpened and cleaned? Yes.
Throwing needles? Shuriken? Throwing knives? Throwing spikes? Brass knuckles? Garrote? Yes, everything in place.
Yes, she was ready.
Tenten started forward on her self-appointed mission.
Naruto gave a satisfied sigh as his third bowl of ramen hit the spot. Nice warm sloshy feeling in his tummy.
"Naruto-kun?" hesitantly began Hinata, pausing at her 80% completed bowl.
"Yeah, Hinata?" asked Naruto, wondering why she wasn't eating.
"I-I'm full," began Hinata.
"Oh, okay," said Naruto, taking the bowl from in front of his new friend and polishing it off.
Hinata stared. Her lips had touched that exact section of bowl where Naruto was now draining the last of the broth. Which meant... indirect kiss?!
Iruka merely looked at the stack of bowls and grieved for his lost paycheck.
"Whoa," said Naruto. For some reason he was feeling REALLY good as he consumed ramen. More so than usual.
"Naruto, you might want to stop there," said Iruka as Naruto put the bowl down.
"Huh? Why?" asked Naruto.
"Those marks on your face are beginning to glow," said Iruka, who was grateful for the opportunity to cut some losses.
"Oh," said Naruto, considering that in the deepening evening. "What do you think, Hinata-chan?"
Hinata had just recovered from the Indirect Kiss when she heard the affectionate suffix being used. She froze up again as in her mindscape, a chibi-Hinata circled the day on a calendar and wrote in "Best Day Ever!!!" for some reason.
Then a girl none of them knew walked up to Naruto.
"Hi," said the girl. "I'm Tenten. I'm your new girlfriend. Pleased to meet you."
Naruto had turned around and been ready to reply with a hello of his own, the rest of her statement had caused him to forget everything else. "Uhm. 'Girlfriend'?"
