"I can become a god?" asked Naruto, still thinking it sounded awfully cool.
Sort of, depending on who is actually defining the term 'god.' So, I just alter this event here...
"Hey, I'm not rea-" POOF!
Ready to be a superhero/god/champion of justice? No, but how many individuals ever really IS ready for such a thing?
Naruto stared, Mizuki smirked and threw the fuma shuriken. Iruka jumped to intercept it.
Naruto did a substitution jutsu, exchanging himself with Iruka. There was an incredible amount of pain as the shuriken imbedded itself into Naruto's back.
"NARUTO!" called out Iruka.
"NARUTO!" cried out Hinata, who wasn't aware that she was only present because Toltiir thought it would be amusing.
Tenten, having been training nearby, merely crouched on a branch and tried to sort out what she was hearing and seeing. If Naruto was a demon fox, much less the village idiot, why would he pull off a substitution jutsu to save his teacher? It just didn't make sense.
Ayame, who'd gotten lost on a delivery despite having made the same trip dozens of times before, gasped as the little boy she knew was apparently killed before her.
The Hokage, having seen the apparently empty section of forest slowly get more and more crowded, frowned a bit.
"Naruto? Why?" asked Iruka.
"Y-you never saw me as a demon," said Naruto, blood dribbling from his mouth. "Those precious to me... I'll protect."
Mizuki frowned as the script he'd planned went wandering off a cliff. "Well, I managed to kill the brat. Now I just need that scroll."
A pillar of golden light slammed down into Naruto, shoving Iruka away as if he were a child. Naruto rose into the air, his injuries healing as his clothes exploded into tiny dots of white light which orbitted him.
Hinata got this weird grin on her face as she watched. Not only was her crush-object not dead, but he was briefly naked in that light. Okay, she was a twelve year old girl and he was a twelve year old boy. She had to take what opportunities she could, you know.
Naruto's lean musculature bulked up, he got a little taller, his hair lengthened. Markings appeared on forehead and just under his eyes along the cheekbones.
Mizuki threw a set of shuriken, not the brightest of chunin but realizing that this did not bode well. The shuriken stopped at the edge of that radiance as if they had imbedded themselves in a solid surface.
Toltiir found the cat-form to be fairly comfortable and something he was experienced at enough that he could look and act like just another cat and therefore not draw any attention to himself until he was ready for the prank to be revealed. It had its uses, but also there were times it was not appropriate. In this case, appearing as an old bald man with an impressive moustache and wearing celestial robes while walking down a path of light was more appropriate.
"Naruto Uzumaki. Long have you suffered. Long have you persevered. Your enemies seek to become gods themselves, and therefore I - the Celestial Emperor - do bequeath upon you this gift. Be now a sennin, one of the Immortals. Now I simply have to choose your elixir."
"'elixir'?" asked Iruka in a small voice.
"Yes. All Immortals have an elixir which they must consume to retain their immortality and to empower them." The 'Celestial Emperor' seemed to ponder this, stroking his long beard absently.
"Ramen!" said Naruto.
The 'Celestial Emperor' nodded once. "Done then. This will also make the Cult of Jashin quite vexed with you, and they may take it out on your friends. So I shall bestow a further gift on you. That of Empowerment. Those who have a true and lasting tie to you, who consider you precious and whom you consider precious. They shall benefit from that tie to you."
Four more shuriken flew out, stopping an inch away from the 'Celestial Emperor.'
The 'Emperor' glanced at Mizuki, raised an eyebrow and considered the chunin as one would a bug that had just managed to cross the 'annoyance threshold' that would result in a squishing. "Maybe you should get a girlfriend or two. That'll really annoy certain people. Yes, girlfriends and fiancees and wives. Why not give special benefits? The closer the tie, the better the empowerment. That will throw a few crimps in certain plans.
"Uhm, clothes?" asked Naruto.
"I suppose."
The clothes that came back together included armor plates in an autumn-leaf sort of orange on black cloth.
"You'll have to tidy up this mess, Naruto Uzumaki. Consider this your first task."
The light faded, Naruto settled down to the ground. Hinata gave a disappointed sigh, then looked very embarassed.
Tenten considered. Being Naruto's friend would give her a powerup? Interesting...
Ayame's eyes gleamed. Naruto would get a powerup from ramen? Wait till word got around - their business would TRIPLE!
Mizuki reached down and realized he was out of shuriken. Instead, he pulled a large purple sextoy out of his shuriken pouch and blinked at it in confusion.
"Okay," said Iruka into the resulting silence. "There were things about your personal life I found objectionable but never said anything about. What were you planning to do to Naruto with THAT?!"
"I don't want to know," said Naruto, quickly making a thousand shadow clones and sending them against Mizuki. "I'm hungry and want to get some nice ramen. Let's finish this up quickly."
Mizuki tried to turn and run, but someone sent a palm strike into the base of his spine and suddenly his legs wouldn't support him.
Hinata blinked as she realized that she'd somehow snuck up on the rogue teacher and then executed a perfect jyuuken strike.
"Cool, thanks Hinata!" said a thousand Naruto as they gleefully began beating the crap out of Mizuki.
Hinata leaned against a tree, as she had not only been acknowledged and thanked by Naruto, but she was surrounded by a thousand of him at the moment.
