The rest of Team Gai glanced over at where Rock Lee was playing catch. With himself. He'd throw the ball, zip over at extreme speeds in a blur of green, catch and throw the ball in a different direction, repeat.
"It may have just been usable once," said Might Guy, adopting a thinker pose. "We'll have to scour the area and make sure no more of these things remain to cause problems."
"I'll just use my Byakugan then," commented Neji, suiting actions to words. "There... oh. And there's another. And another."
"You see more of these?" asked Might Guy.
"There's six more pieces of this odd substance, each with someone unconscious nearby," said Neji. "Lee? You said that you were knocked out briefly when it did this?"
"Yes, Neji," said Rock Lee, now standing in front of his team. The ball behind him continued arcing up and then slowly falling back to the ground. "I estimate it took about five minutes for me to recover."
"Which means that individuals with less stamina might be out for hours at a time," mused Maito Gai. "We'll have to gather everyone up, be careful about those rocks, and get them to an infirmary where everyone can be checked on. Neji, your eyes will have to lead us to those locations."
Hiruzen Sarutobi looked over the cots. At the end of the negotiations, he'd arranged "major power-ups" for seven "loyal ninja or citizens of Konohagakure."
Rock Lee was the single known quality, as the recently placed genin protege of Might Guy was apparently faster than a lightning jutsu.
"...how could that be his fate?!" muttered a boy looking out at the yard where Rock Lee was demonstrating that he could throw kunai across the yard and then be there to catch them.
There was another thing to consider - which was that there were more than nine individuals in those cots.
2) Ayame, a waitress whose father owned the ramen shop Ichiraku's.
3) Hinata Hyuga, whose father had not yet responded to the message that his eldest daughter had been exposed to a potentially poisonous substance and was unconscious.
4) Konohamaru - if he hadn't known himself what was going on, the Hokage would be concerned about his grandson being unconscious with exposure to a chunk of rock.
5) Iruka Umino - was he developing GILLS?!
6) Sakura Haruno - would bear watching. Especially with changes like THAT.
