Oh well, this was his big chance to prove that he wasn't a frail little girl like his father kept saying. He still wasn't sure why that particular comment especially seemed to get Haruka upset. Even after several years of hearing it. Oh well.

For a boy to enter the Tournament was scandalous and would likely result in the boy in question being beaten quickly, soundly, and then publicly humiliated.
For an OUTSIDER boy to enter the Tournament?
It was laughable really. Everyone knew how pathetic Outsiders were. So full of themselves, bloated little balloons of pride waiting to be pricked by an Amazon blade. A pity though. The boy was rather cute.
The first girl to challenge the boy wasn't even Warrior caste. Xi was a promising Healer who was going to try and defeat the "Menagerie Boy" quickly and easily.
Thwak!
The assembled Amazons tsked at the Healer tripping like that and smashing her head against a post. Ah well, the boy might be an Outsider but at least he could move quickly and get the Healer to a Healer. Yes, it would be a pity to have to beat the cute Outsider to a pulp and dump him in the river.
One of the more seasoned warriors, Kao, stretched her lanky muscular frame and brought out the old iron-studded club. She didn't like guys anyway, so she'd just quickly flatten this pest. Too bad though. If she'd ever had a child, this would have been about the right age.
Whap! Grab! Spin! Piledriver!
That caused a few eyes to widen. Kao was 6'4" and weighed 275# with the sort of build that a male weightlifter might have sported. For her to be lifted over the boy's head and imbedded in the ground? That was fairly impressive. Had to be a fluke though.
Carrying all those cans of cat and dog food paid for by "trained animal" performances had paid off. Genma had declared it to be weight training. The odd thing was, he was right.
The third Amazon was a little more cautious. Shammi flipped a couple of egg whisks around briefly to test his defenses. When he showed no signs of blocking them, she grew a little more bold and began her dust-rag shuriken attack.
Thwak!
Shammi hit the ground with her eyes swirling.
"(Stop! The Outsider has credible skills,)" the Elder of the Healers declared. Though Lilac was an old and gnarled Elder known for being somewhat earthy, she still commanded some respect. The other Amazons stopped testing the Outsider.
"(What of the law about taking Outsider men as husbands?)" Sugar asked. She wasn't sure about this boy. He was a whole two years younger!
"(Well, we can dispense with that nonsense,)" Lilac replied. "(Though he kind of reminds me...)"
"(...'of your Douglas',)" groaned the Amazons in unison, filling in the rest.
Spice, Sugar's usual partner-in-crime, looked over the boy. "(I don't know. He looks kinda tasty but probably wouldn't last long.)"
"(We could find out,)" suggested Sugar, estimating the boy's age again and still coming up with barely legal.
"(You're in training,)" chided Azure.
"(That's a laugh,)" replied Sugar. "(Everyone knows it builds muscle tone.)"
Ranma and most of his animals got this awful chill for some odd reason.
