Mischief Fragment: Fixing That Fusion [Episode 243132]

by Ayanami's Ivaldi

The Elder Cat God contemplated his place in the multiverse. He was powerful but not all powerful.

He was a God of Chaos but he simply didn't like evil. Your average villain or even a cruel dictator struggling to end the world was fine. However, when they actually succeeded, the world becomes an awfully boring place.

Entropy increases over time. Chaos increases over time but eventually there's heat death as a result and everything reaches a listless state of equilibrium. A eternal boring equality that brings only ennui.

Thus, end of the world, bad. Hero saving the world, good.

If villains and heroes exist then they exist for his amusement. They were like the black biscuits and white filling of an Oreo. Should one side exist alone, nothing happens.

Some boring earthling once said that happy people were boring because they were all the same. This wasn't wrong.

Happy people are boring because they don't change. The same is true for sad people or angry people. The exciting part is change. When a sad person becomes happy, or a happy person becomes sad. This is the crux of Chaos. The keystone of change.

And thus looking over at a certain set of universes where our local heroes just managed to defeat their overwhelmingly powerful enemies and banish them from their worlds. We see some of those heroes get dragged along for the ride.

In particular, those heroes end up in various variants of the NGE universe just in time to splatter into orange goo.

"Hmm..." hummed Toltiir. That was a lot of wasted potential.

There were a lot of option.

One particular case interested him. He just needed a slight adjustment so that one of the heroes died in the Between and his soul could slip into the reincarnation cycle of a shiny new world that he hadn't ever played with before. There was a certain fool there playing god in an attempt to impose his will on all living being. Toltiir rather liked 'free will'. The creativity of countless minds limited as they were always surprised him. The sameness of a stubborn godling's mind on the other hand would never cease to bore.

He could retroactively alter their dimensional transit and send some somewhere useful.

He could mess with the fabric of time and space to realign the dimensions so that they end up in their NGE universe earlier and make a difference.

He could interact with them using one of his aspects to give them choices.

He could do nothing and look elsewhere.

"Now then, what shall I do?"
