Ritsuko lost her train of thought as a little alarm began ringing in the back of her head. A quick headcount confirmed what she'd dreaded. "Where's Shiko? For that matter, where's Go?"
"Shiko said something about going to find Shinji-kun," volunteered Kyuu.
Ritsuko Akagi experienced a moment of brain-freeze while the possible ramifications of that simple statement went through her head. "She does realize that you and he are all twelve years old and not capable of..."
Kyuu (Pluto) shrugged and got out a magazine. "Martial Arts Quarterly" from the look of it.
"Ah, hang on," said Ritsuko, as she decided there were moments where panic was called for. This wasn't quite it, but it could still be bad enough to warrant hurry.
"WAGH!" said Niko/Moon. "Shiko is going to get to Shinji-kun first!"
"Maybe, maybe not," said Kyuu.
"Why is she wearing a French Maid outfit?" asked Maya when the single shot from a security camera was found.
"Oh come ON," said Ritsuko, practically glaring at the command staff. "How can no one have seen a Rei Ayanami walking out of the Geofront in a French Maid costume?! Especially when she's taking a stack of luggage nearly her own height?"
"Dispatching Section 2," said Maya.
Kyuu/Pluto smiled as the Section 2 presence surrounding them diminished. So far, the plan was working.
She had to hand it to Mercury/Rei, the plan had looked unfeasible, but things were falling into place nicely.
"Okay, it's been two days, and the only Rei still here is Ichi," said Ritsuko.
"The ninja is the one still here," mused Gendo.
Maya stepped up to the podium in front of the Section 2 squads where they were seated. "I'm just going over the basics. Operate in groups of three. You are not to harm the Ree, and you should know the Ree will not harm you unless you come at them with killing intent. Otherwise they'll match harm for harm."
"The 'Ree'?" asked one of the Section 2 agents.
"Plural of Rei," said Maya. "Rei-01 came up with the term to cut down on confusion."
"Oh," said the Section 2 agent who'd spoken earlier.
"Rei/Mercury: ice and cold generation. Genius level. Tech wizard."Ichi/Venus: specialization in ninjutsu. Misdirection, illusion, stealth. Very high martial arts skills - Jeet Kun Do specifically. Fortunately for everyone involved, she decided it was her duty to stay put in case any of them were needed.
"Niko/Moon: light generation. So far all she's managed to do is manifest a weak silver light. You don't have to worry about her though. She apparently got lost and ended up in a chocolate factory. She gorged herself and is being shipped back to us with severe 'tummy troubles.'"
"Sanko/Mars: some clairvoyant talents, also pyrokinesis. Likes the shrine priestess lifestyle. We've located her as well, apparently she was distracted by a Shinto shrine and went to work there."
"Yours?" asked Ritsuko quietly.
Gendo's smirk was answer enough there.
"I see," said Ritsuko.
"Shiko, which is less offensive to her than Shinko, is Jupiter. Electricity. She can sense it and manipulate it. Tasers will be useless against her, unless you're actively trying to give her more voltage she can turn against you. We're tracking her through fluctuations in the power grid, and so we know where she is. We're hoping she'll lead us to the rendevous point with the others."Go/Saturn is able to manipulate earth and rock. She usually wears black, preferring a pseudo-Goth look. She's completely off our radar, but is likely to show up near Shiko at some point.
"Roku/Uranus is the most overall athletic and fastest of the Ree. She's also the least interested, according to Ichi, in getting to Shinji. Based on psych profiles, we'll probably turn her up at or near a race of some kind.
"Shichi/Neptune is the artist among them all. We expect her to quietly make her way towards Shinji's area, but there's an art exhibit going on in that city - so she'll probably detour there.
"Kyuu/Pluto is the most dangerous of the Ree. She enjoys martial arts and may attempt to draw you into a fight. Do not let her do so. Despite being a twelve year old girl, her strength and martial arts knowledge are considerable."
"No information on 'Hachi'?" asked the Section 2 operative who'd spoken earlier.
"Hachi doesn't exactly exist," said Maya. "We named the first one Rei - which means 'Zero' and we went from there."
