The normal Mercury transformation Ami was used to involved watery ribons appearing and over-writing her normal clothes. This transformation, however, was anything but normal to her.
Around the center of her currently immaterial body, a crystaline lattice appeared over a layer of cloth, and supported with a leather backing, which showed at the edges, where it folded over as a structural anchor and blue collar. further out, boots and open-fingered gloves that appeared to be made of a woven blue metal, with white edges. The skirt was the least changed, having only gotten as long as her knees, and held to the rest of the outfit by a pair of black leather belts with a clasp at the front showing a circle with a small cross below and a pair of horns above.
When she manifested into her outfit, twisting ropes of water reached through the outfit conforming to her form... which was completely unchanged, save for her eyes, and even they weren't the universal red that Keepers sported, but instead were purple. PURPLE! It was all too much for the Reaper's temper.
With an incoherent roar, Horniculus charged at the keeper, intending to tear her open while she was still off balance.
"No." While most Keepers either fought to control of the power or reveled in it, the new influx of power was too small in addition to what she already could use to make much difference, yet. Seeing a threat, she decided to unleash that power mixed with her own against a target she now knew could take it.
The ice she expected. The lines that appeared to wrap her target... that was new.
As Horny was frozen a second time, he realised three things. First, whatever Dark God decided to accept her was either subtle enough to withold power she didn't yet need, or clever enough to make sure she would counter him before giving her more.
Second, the new ice attack now weakened him far more than it should have, as all the energy he had on hand was ripped out, leaving him to need to begin his struggles completely from scratch. Third...
Splash! His momentum had not been arrested, leaving him to fall into a pool of water under the Heart he hadn't seen, as it was the same shade as the surrounding stone.
Mercury frowned and folded her arms as she leaned over and looked at him. "If you're not going to be civil, I'm going to have to leave you in there until either you cool off, or I find a way to kick you out! Just be glad I don't just remove some of that excess life force to finish this place!"
Amy jerked her head up. Wait a minute! That didn't sound like something she would say... What's going on here?
Amy called up her Mercury Computer for more information, and found yet another change. rather than the equivalent of a palmtop, it seemed to be a direct interface through her visor that she could manipulate either by hand, or (as she checked on a hunch), through concentration. It showed both her form and the Dungeon Heart, with a small dark thread feeding energy to empty spaces in her energy, and a much larger flow of silver energy filling the Heart like a giant (nearly empty) bowl.
When she tried to call up more detailed information, she could only find a few parallel examples that the computer matched most closely to the youma and their masters, and that only by about 50 percent. It did, however, suggest using any new magic patterns that appeared in her mind might provide answers, and naming some of them would likely offer greater control.
Coming to a decision, she decided to start with the connection to the Heart, and give this place a Name.
"I Name this place for my nature and the harmony with it I seek. Now and forever more, let this place be known to all: SHABON KEEP!"
