"Huh," said Asuka Langley Soryuu. "Henge, Kawarimi, and Bunshin? You're saying they're taught at school though, so everyone knows them?"
"Yes, but they hardly ever use them," said Toltiir. "Hmmm. How about..."
POP!
"Enraiha!" said Asuka, summoning a longsword of flame to her hand. "Oh. Now THAT is handy."
"With the bloodline ability of pyromancy, you'll find that fire spells are easier for you to block or deflect, and you'll learn fire-based spells easier," said Toltiir. "That and you can summon that fire sword which grants you increased control and allows you to forego or modify some of the hand-sign requirements. Makes it less easy for someone to copy."
"You promised that I'd kick butt and get a happy ending," said Asuka with a frown.
"No, not at all," said the cat. "I said that you'd get the chance to kick butt and have the chance of earning a happy ending."
Asuka dismissed her sword. "I've never seen this series. Who's 'Naruto' anyway?"
"A mage who has already left the village, having been flunked out of the ninja program," said Toltiir. "You're taking his spot on Team 7."
"Team 7," began Iruka. "Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Asuka Langley Soryuu."
"What?" asked Sakura. "Why her?!"
"Because Naruto failed and the one with the worst grades besides Naruto was Asuka," said Iruka.
"Hey, that's not my fault!" said Asuka. "I came in late and how the bloody blue blazes am I supposed to make sense of these chicken scratches?!"
"It's called 'kanji' you know," said Sakura.
"Moving on," said Iruka. "Team 8..."
Naruto stepped out of the storeroom, having found mostly inedible food and considered the sun's position. A base of operations for right now sounded good.
Maybe the library had some information he could use.
It was just really creepy how the purple and green giant statue seemed to follow him with its eyes.
