"Hinata Hyuga is the top kunoichi scorer," said Iruka. "Though it was close, Sakura Haruno scored a little lower."
"Hyuga? Was she using the Byakugan to cheat?" asked the senior chunin, Goemon.
"No," said Iruka. "She's 'study-buddies' with Naruto Uzumaki. Since the two started helping each other out, her scores have been in the upper 10% with only two exceptions over the past few years. She scores significantly higher than Haruno in taijutsu and ninjutsu."
"Well, if she's a Hyuga - that's to be expected," said Goemon. "Where's Mizuki, anyway?"
Iruka shook his head. "Oh, he tried to get Naruto to steal a scroll of forbidden techniques, telling him something about how he could get onto a team with Hinata if he passed it as an 'extra credit test' - then when Naruto showed up WITH Hinata and the scroll Mizuki told them the secret about Naruto's prisoner. Seemed to feel that Naruto was going to go nuts and start killing everyone or something."
Goemon stared for a moment, then barked in laughter. "He always was an idiot, making plans without consulting reality. What DID happen?"
"Hinata asked Naruto about how if he was going to devour her, Naruto said that would have to wait till they were older," said Iruka, shaking his head. "He's been spending way too much time with Jiraiya on those little trips into the village."
"I take it that Mizuki won't be coming back?" asked Goemon.
"No, right after that, Naruto revealed he stole that scroll over a year ago when he was trying to find a version of the Clone technique he could get to work. He's been doing Shadow Clones ever since. The Hokage has already had a talk with him about stealing things from his tower without permission," admitted Iruka. "Mizuki was then swarmed with Shadow Clones, and when he dispelled one - he discovered they were Explosive Shadow Clones. He survived but now Ibiki has him."
"Hmph, damn Mizuki anyway," said Goemon. "Now we've got to do all the paperwork with Megumi and Konako both out."
"Well, if we go with 'Dead Last' - wouldn't that be Shikamaru Nara?" asked Iruka.
"Shikamaru Nara, Hinata Hyuga, and Sasuke Uchiha?" asked Goemon. "A Hyuga and an Uchiha on the same team?"
"Hinata's not a typical Hyuga," pointed out Iruka.
"Might not matter," said Goemon. "I got word that if at all possible, they wanted to try and recreate the Nara-Akimichi-Yamanaka trio for this generation."
Iruka frowned as he examined the folders for the Rookie Twelve. "Well then, how about-"
